  1. 1. Deflationism : A Use-Theoretic Analysis of the Truth-Predicate

    Author : Arvid Båve; Peter Pagin; Panu Raatikainen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; truth; deflationism; disquotationalism; proposition; use-theory; semantics; nominalism; inferentialism; assertibility; that-clause; singular term; Tarski; Horwich; Field; meaning; Philosophy subjects; Filosofiämnen;

    Abstract : I here develop a specific version of the deflationary theory of truth. I adopt a terminology on which deflationism holds that an exhaustive account of truth is given by the equivalence between truth-ascriptions and de-nominalised (or disquoted) sentences. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Syntax of the Swedish Present Participle

    Author : Camilla Thurén; tolkning i offentlig sektor och översättning danska och isländska Avdelningen för svenska; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; adjunct; participial clause; internal structure; complex predicate; Swedish; syntax; present participle;

    Abstract : Abstract The Syntax of the Swedish Present Participle offers a generative analysis of the Swedish present participle with the central goal of accounting for its distribution and function. The analysis offered rests on three hypotheses: (i) Present participles are verbs, (ii) Present participles can appear in complex predicates, and (iii) Adjunct present participial clauses may be interpreted through Control, where Control is assumed to equal an Agree relation. 3. 3. Paraphrase and Rhetorical Adjustment: An Essay on Contextualism and Cohesion

    Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to two distinct but convergent issues: the possibility of paraphrase and an account of context sensitivity on the basis of textual cohesion (or coherence). Abstract : Usability aspects of programming languages are often overlooked, yet have a substantial effect on programmer productivity. These issues are even more acute in the field of Inductive Synthesis, where programs are automatically generated from sample expected input and output data, and the programmer needs to be able to comprehend, and confirm or reject the suggested programs.
