  1. 1. Aspects of cardiac arrest in Sweden - studies based on the Swedish Registry for CPR

    Author : Fredrik Hessulf; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiac arrest; survival; resuscitation; comorbidity; prediction;

    Abstract : Background: Since the introduction of modern cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by Peter Safar in the late 1950s, a tremendous amount of work and scientific discovery has expanded our knowledge of cardiac arrest (CA), made resuscitation a core skill of health care providers and improved survival substantially. Despite the many advances, the core elements of resuscitation have remained largely intact: immediate recognition and initiation of CPR and swift defibrillation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity

    Author : Marius Sommer; Louise Rönnqvist; Charlotte Häger; Nicola Hodges; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motor timing; rhythmicity; timing training; golf shot; golf swing; kinematics; precision; variability; coordination; movement dynamics; soccer; fMRI; mirror neurons; action observation; cerebellum; perception - action.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 3. 3. Context-aware Human Motion Prediction for Robots in Complex Dynamic Environments

    Author : Andrey Rudenko; Kai Arras; Achim Lilienthal; Thierry Fraichard; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; robotics; human motion prediction; activity forecasting;

    Abstract : Understanding human behavior is a key skill for intelligent systems that share physical and emotional spaces with humans. One of the main challenges to this end is the ability of such systems to make accurate predictions of human motion. READ MORE

  5. 5. Thinking Forwards and Backwards : Metamemory and Metacomprehension Abilities and Strategies in Text Processing

    Author : Åsa Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was to investigate high-school students metamemory and metacomprehension of texts. In three studies the students read texts and then made prospective as well as retrospective ratings of their own immediate and delayed performance (i.e., measured via text recall and answering performance of comprehension questions).
