16. The importance of long axis function -an echocardiographic study with respect to ageing, response to treatment, prediction of survival and effect of warm water immersion
Abstract : Echocardiographic M-mode measurement of atrioventricular plane displacement (AVPD) and determination of annular velocity with Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) is a reliable method to gauge ventricular long axis function for quantification of myocardial contractility and relaxation. The aim of this thesis was to increase the understanding of the importance of long axis function with respect to ageing, response to pharmacological treatment, prediction of survival, and enhanced load condition caused by warm water immersion. 17. Structure-borne sound properties of vibration isolators
Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers concerning the audibledynamic stiffness of a vibration isolator; includingmeasurements and theoretical modeling. The study focus isrubber isolators, being the most popular material in theaudible frequency domain - though the measurement principlealso applies to other resilient elements. READ MORE

18. Surgically corrected univentricular hearts. Anatomical, haemodynamic and functional status at a long-term follow-up
Abstract : The Fontan operation and its modifications are applied to a large spectrum of congenital heart defectswith univentricular physiology. The Fontan circulation is characterised by a reduced, non-pulsatilepulmonary blood flow and the elevated central venous pressure is the main driving force for thepulmonary blood flow. READ MORE

19. Pulsed Tissue Doppler and left ventricular filling in acute coronary syndromes
Abstract : Pulsed tissue Doppler is a new technique, which can investigate longitudinal left ventricular(LV) function, by measuring tissue velocities and timings. Patients with acute coronarysyndromes (ACS) frequently display a reduced longitudinal function. They also developglobal LV filling impairment. READ MORE

20. Concept evaluation and contact problems in simple rotordynamical systems
Abstract : Rotating machines serves an important role in many different applications. Extensive research has been made, manly during the last century, in order to develop these systems and understand the dynamics. The theory of rotordynamics differs in many fundamental aspects from structural dynamics and is therefore usually treated as an own research area. READ MORE
