  1. 16. Mesoporous transition metal oxides for oxygen electrocatalysis in energy conversion technologies

    Author : Zhixing Wu; Emma Björk; Magnus Odén; Mikhail Vagin; Freddy Kleitz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Electrocatalysis, the foundation of electrical to chemical energy transformation, enables the mitigation of the electrical energy losses during reactions and the control of selectivity of the process to certain chemical products. The slow rate and the multi-step complexity of oxygen-associated reactions, namely oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), motivate the use of platinum group metals (PGM) catalysts, which significantly increase the price of the technologies due to the cost and scarcity of PGM-based materials. 2. 17. Behavior of iron-based oxygen carriers at deep reduction states

    Author : Victor Purnomo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxygen carrier; fuel conversion; chemical looping; physical performance; deep reduction; reactivity; iron oxides;

    Abstract : Oxygen carriers have an important role as bed materials in both common circulating fluidized bed combustion unit (also known as oxygen-carrier-aided combustion, OCAC) and in various chemical looping processes. Contrary to conventional bed materials, e.g., sand, oxygen carriers are capable of transferring both oxygen and heat. READ MORE

  3. 18. Arrangement Design Studies : the introduction of the digital wall in domestic environments

    Author : Morteza Abdipour; Erik Stolterman; Mikael Wiberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Digital Walls; Large Displays; Ambient Display Environments; Arrangement; Domestic Environments; Design Research; Research Through Design; Design Studies; Design Research Lab; Constructive Design Research; Participatory Design; User-centered Design; industrial design; industridesign;

    Abstract : This research focuses on the emergence of 'digital walls' that can project images onto almost all or even the entirety of interior (and perhaps exterior) walls, and what implications this might have for how we arrange our rooms. It demonstrates the arrangement, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 19. Patterns of co-presence : Spatial configuration and social segregation

    Author : Ann Legeby; Lars Marcus; Laura Vaughan; Daniel Koch; Julienne Hanson; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; co-presence; spatial configuration; public space; urban segregation; urban design; public life; spatial affordance;

    Abstract : This thesis notes that there is a lack of systematic research investigating segregation patterns based on how public space is used and frequented by citizens. In order for understanding of urban segregation to reach beyond residential segregation, the extent to which public space facilitates co-presence between social groups is a key issue. READ MORE

  5. 20. Boundaries, believers and bodies : a cultural analysis of a multidisciplinary research community

    Author : Helena Pettersson; Britta Lundgren; Erik Stolterman; David Hakken; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Culture; ethnographic method; research; technology; boundary object work; symbolic capital; technoromanticism; future; speed; creativity; reality; dystopia; focal things; trading; multidisciplinary; gender; reflexivity; Ethnology; Etnologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this study is to analyze the construction of research culture and collaboration within the research studio Tools for Creativity, one node in the larger Interactive Institute. This studio is an arena that in today’s society is associated with boundary crossing, dynamics and variability: An environment with high-tech equipment, a staff equipped with diverse skills, and a flexible approach with the ambition of developing innovative tools based on ICT to strengthen human creativity.
