  1. 16. Array Processing Techniques for Direction of Arrival Estimation, Communications, and Localization in Vehicular and Wireless Sensor Networks

    Author : Marco Antonio Marques Marinho; Alexey Vinel; Henk Wymeersch; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DOA estimation; Array Interpolation; MIMO; Wireless Sensor Networks; Radio Positioning;

    Abstract : Array signal processing in wireless communication has been a topic of interest in research for over three decades. In the fourth generation (4G) of the wireless communication systems, also known as Long Term Evolution (LTE), multi antenna systems have been adopted according to the Release 9 of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). 2. 17. Palladium-based Nanoplasmonics for Ultrafast and Deactivation-Resistant Hydrogen Detection

    Author : Iwan Darmadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasmonic sensing; palladium hydride; palladium; polymer; localized surface plasmon resonance; Pd; nanoparticle; surfactant; hydrogen; palladium alloy; hydrogen sensor;

    Abstract : In the hydrogen economy scenario, hHydrogen gas is ispotential to be the main energy carrier in the hydrogen economy scenario in the upcoming future. It receives much attention since the reaction with oxygen generates electricity and produces only clean waterhydrogen is attractive as energy carrier since the energy produced by its reaction with oxygen only producesleaves water as by-product. 3. 18. Characterization of Membrane Proteins: From a gated plant aquaporin to animal ion channel receptors

    Author : Sabeen Survery; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MIPs; AQPs; TRP ion channels; water transport; themo sensor; Electrophiles;

    Abstract : Membrane proteins play several important roles in a cell. Among these proteins are aquaporins (AQPs) and transient receptor potential (TRP) ion channels that mediate water transport, temperature and noxious chemical sensation, respectively. READ MORE

  4. 19. Detecting Inclusions in a Silicone Rubber Phantom Using Standing Lamb Waves and Multiple Frequency Footprints

    Author : Ulf G Jonsson; Britt Andersson; Olof A Lindahl; Jacques Ohayon; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Piezoelectric; Silicone rubber; Impedance; Resonance; Lamb waves; Phantom; Electronics; elektronik;

    Abstract : The thesis deals with one major question: is it possible, using one piezoelectric sensor/vibrator, to detect a hard inclusion in a silicone rubber phantom? The question was approached with an open mind and the task was subdivided into three clearly identifiable parts: characterization of the piezoelectric sensor/vibrator (paper I), creating a model of the visco-elastic properties of a tissue-like material (phantom) in contact with the sensor/vibrator (paper II), and to detect the presence of a hard inclusion in the phantom (paper III). All vibrations of the sensor/vibrator and phantom was modeled using a finite element method (FEM). READ MORE

  5. 20. Genetic and biochemical characterization of a novel sensor of extracellular amino acids in yeast

    Author : Hanna Forsberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Eukaryotic cells make developmental decisions that initiate distinct programs of gene expression. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae the majority of decisions affecting developmental outcomes are made in response to extra- and intracellular derived nutritional signals. READ MORE
