1. Natural and Sexual Selection in a Natural Hybrid Zone of Ficedula Flycatchers
Abstract : Speciation can be viewed as the formation of reproductive barriers between different populations. This thesis investigates patterns of natural and sexual selection shaping reproductive barriers between two hybridizing flycatchers (i.e. collared – and pied flycatchers). READ MORE

2. Speciation and Metabolic rate : Insights from an avian hybrid zone
Abstract : The role of divergent climate adaptation in speciation has received surprisingly little scientific attention. My dissertation research focused on how resting metabolic rate (RMR) relates to the build up of prezygotic and postzygotic isolation in a natural Ficedula flycatcher hybrid zone. READ MORE

3. Evolution of Spur Length in a Moth-pollinated Orchid
Abstract : There is considerable evidence that pollinator shifts can explain many differences in flower morphology between closely related plant species, but the extent to which pollinator shifts can explain the maintenance of among-population variation in floral traits within species is poorly known. In this thesis, I combined comparative and experimental approaches to examine the evolution of floral traits in the moth-pollinated orchid Platanthera bifolia. READ MORE

Abstract : Genetic studies of affective disorders have yielded several chromosomal regions suggestive for linkage. Linkage analysis was performed in five families with unipolar affective disorder, collected from northern Sweden. Four candidate regions on chromosomes 16, 18, 21 and 4p were excluded. READ MORE
