  1. 1. Multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions

    Author : Kent Wiberg; Sven Jacobsson; Lars Nørgaard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemometrics; UV-Vis spectroscopy; Multivariate calibration; Lidocaine; Identity; Content; PLS; SIMCA; Non-column; Diode array UV spectroscopy; DAD; Control sample; High Capacity Analysis HCA ; Fluorescence spectroscopy; Albumin; Immunoglobulin G; HPLC-DAD; Prilocaine; Peak purity determination; PCA; PARAFAC; Partial separation; Curve resolution; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis some multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions are proposed. Spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis form a powerful combination for obtaining both quantitative and qualitative information and it is shown how spectroscopic techniques in combination with chemometric data evaluation can be used to obtain rapid, simple and efficient analytical methods. 2. 2. Procedural and postoperative pain-reducing methods in newborns

    Author : Björn A Larsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Analgesia; anaesthesia; topical; local; epidural; lidocame; prilocaine; bupivacame; venepuncture; heel-lancing; skin thickness; skin perfusion; infant; neonate;

    Abstract : The neonate has a functioning nociceptive system. However, neonates are probably more vulnerable than the older infants and adults to the negative effects of pain. Untreated pain and stress stimuli may have long-term effects. It is, therefore, very important to find ways to reduce pain and painful stimuli in neonates. READ MORE

  3. 3. In situ gelling drug delivery systems for periodontal anaesthesia

    Author : Marie Scherlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Abstract : In this thesis local anaesthetic formulations based on PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers (PEO and PPO being poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(propylene oxide), respectively) or nonionic cellulose ethers undergoing temperature- or dilution-induced thickening were investigated. The aim of the work was to develop formulations which can be easily administered to the periodontal pocket, stay at the application site, give a fast onset of anaesthesia and have a duration sufficient to perform periodontal scaling procedures. 4. 4. Electrolyte structures and ionization conditions for iontophoretic drug formulation of local anesthetics

    Author : Kiomars Karami; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : Iontophoresis is a modern method of drug delivery by which charged bioactive molecules (drugs) are transferred from an electrolytic reservoir into and through a tissue, normally skin, by means of a weak electric current. The drug is placed in a conductive medium, usually an aqueous solution or a hydrogel, between the "active" electrode and the skin. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ropivacaine : An experimental and clinical study with special reference to analgesic, circulatory and antiinflammatory effects

    Author : Ingemar Cederholm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Aims of the study: 1. to compare ropivacaine, a new long-acting amino-amide local anaesthetic drug, and bupivacaine (with/without adrenaline) concerning dermal analgesia and local vascular effects, 2. to design a suitable test procedure to evaluate changes in skin blood flow after intradermal injection of local anaesthetics, 3.
