  1. 21. Models of alveolar remodeling in chronic lung disease

    Author : Oskar Rosmark; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Extracellular matrix ECM ; Decellularization; Mass Spectrometry MS ; Biomechanics; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD ; Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis IPF ; Alveolar epithelial cells; Fibroblasts; Lung slices;

    Abstract : Lung function is highly dependent on the structure of the lung parenchyma. Remodeling of the alveolar compartment is a central part of the pathology of chronic lung disease such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). READ MORE

  2. 22. Glioblastoma heterogeneity and plasticity : Investigating the roles of BMP4 and SOX2

    Author : Erika Dalmo; Bengt Westermark; Fredrik J. Swartling; Lene Uhrbom; Ana Martin-Villalba; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioblastoma; SOX2; BMP4; senescence; plasticity; Oncology; Onkologi; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The malignant primary brain tumor glioblastoma has a dismal prognosis and is distinguished by its heterogeneous character. Current treatment with surgical resection, radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy with the alkylating agent temozolomide does not provide a cure, but simply prolongs survival by a few months. 3. 23. Midgut carcinoid tumours - biochemical and therapeutic aspects

    Author : Gunnel Westberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; carcinoid syndrome; valvular heart disease; 5-HT; chromogranins; octreotide; hepatic arterial embolization;

    Abstract : The biology of human midgut carcinoid tumour was studied experimentally in primary cell culture and clinically in patients with the midgut carcinoid syndrome. In cell cultures, tumour cells had a secretory pattern of 5-HTP, 5-HT and 5-HIAA specific for each tumour indicating individual regulation of synthesis/degradation. READ MORE

  4. 24. New Molecular Approaches to Glioblastoma Therapy

    Author : Sathishkumar Baskaran; Sven Nelander; Karin Forsberg Nilsson; Silvia Marino; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioblastoma; GBM; ZBTB16; PLZF; Heterogeneity; Proteasome inhibitors; Bortezomib; Pterostilbene; drug combinations; Oncology; Onkologi; Biological Research on Drug Dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common high-grade brain tumor diagnosed in patients who are more than 50 years of age. The standard of care treatment is surgery, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The median life expectancy of patients is only between 12 to 15 months after receiving current treatment regimes. 5. 25. Mesenchymal stromal cells in lung tissue

    Author : Sara Rolandsson Enes; Lungbiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mesenchymal stromal cells; lung transplantation; bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome; obliterative bronchiolitis; extracellular matrix;

    Abstract : Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) are multipotent cells with immunomodulatory and regenerative properties. During recent years, the interest in using MSC for clinical approaches for various diseases have increased. READ MORE
