  1. 1. Low-energy buildings : energy use, indoor climate and market diffusion

    Author : Johannes Persson; Stefan Grönkvist; Svend Svendsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building energy simulations; energy efficiency gap; energy use; indoor climate; low-energy buildings;

    Abstract : Low-energy buildings have, in recent years, gained attention and moved towards a large-scale introduction in the residential sector. During this process, national and international criteria for energy use in buildings have become stricter and the European Union has through the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive imposed on member states to adapt their building regulations for ‘Nearly Zero Energy Buildings’, which by 2021 should be standard for new buildings. 2. 2. Energy Use, Efficiency Gains and Emission Abatement in Transitional Industrialised Economies: Poland and the Baltic States

    Author : Jürgen Salay; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; implementation; sustainable energy; renewable energy; electricity production; power industry; Baltic states; Poland; transition; sulphur dioxide; air pollution; energy efficiency; Energy; energy use; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : This thesis is a study of how energy use and air pollution in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have been affected by the economic transition after 1989. It consists of six articles, which examine three different aspects of these changes. READ MORE

    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy system collaboration; District heating; Industrial excess heat; Combined heat and power; Energy system optimization; Metamodeling; Building LCC optimization; Building energy simulation; Cluster energy renovation; Energisystemsamverkan; Fjärrvärme; Industriell överskottsvärme; Kraftvärme; Energisystemoptimering; Metamodellering; Byggnads-LCC-optimering; Byggnadsenergisimulering; Klusterenergirenovering; Hållbar stadsutveckling; Sustainable Urban Development;

    Abstract : With joint commitments by twenty-seven countries under the Paris Agreement, the European Union envisioned a resource-efficient and competitive economy without net emission of greenhouse gases by 2050. Immediate and massive efforts across sectors of energy, industry, and buildings will be required, and district heating (DH), through its ability to integrate efficiency measures on the supply and demand side, can play a central role. 4. 4. Winter Road Maintenance using Renewable Thermal Energy

    Author : Josef Johnsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydronic pavements; borehole thermal energy storage; winter road maintenance; BRIDGESIM; numerical simulations; BTES; renewable energy;

    Abstract : Winter road maintenance is costly but it is inevitable since it is necessary to keep roads accessible and safe during winter. Current winter road maintenance methods use annually 600 000 tons of salt, in the Nordic countries. The salt ends up in the environment along the roads and results in environmental challenges. 5. 5. Heat demand profiles of buildings' energy conservation measures and their impact on renewable and resource efficient district heating systems

    Author : Lukas Lundström; Erik Dahlquist; Fredrik Wallin; Björn Karlsson; Jan Akander; Sven Werner; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating; energy conservation; weather normalisation; typical meteorological year; building energy simulation; system analysis; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Increased energy performance of the building stock of European Union is seen as an important measure towards mitigating climate change, increasing resource utilisation efficiency and energy supply security. Whether to improve the supply-side, the demand-side or both is an open issue. READ MORE
