  1. 16. On the effect of nitrogen, hydrogen and cooling rate on the solidification and pore formation in Fe-base and Al-base alloys

    Author : Advenit Makaya; Hasse Fredriksson; Zhongyun Fan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Porous metals; Metal foams; Gas solubility; Fe-base alloys; Al-base alloys; M7C3 carbides; Al3Ti; Al3Fe; Rapid solidification; Metastable phases; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Experiments on the production of porous metallic materials were performed on Fe-base and Al-base alloys. The method involves dissolution of gases in the liquid state and solidification at various cooling rates. The alloy compositions were selected to induce solidification of primary particles intended to control the pore distribution. READ MORE

  2. 17. Microbial Phosphorus Removal in Waste Stabilisation Pond Wastewater Treatment Systems

    Author : Lydia Ambakisye Mbwele; Gunnel Dalhmmar; Ingrid Faye; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wastewater treatment; waste stabilisation ponds; activated sludge; biological phosphorus removal; tropical climate; A.hydrophylla; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : Waste Stabilisation Ponds (WSPs) are characterised by low phosphorus (P) removal capacity. Heterotrophic bacteria are principal microbial agents in WSPs in addition to algae. READ MORE

  3. 18. Volume Change Effects during Solidification of Alloys

    Author : Bahman Korojy; Hasse Fredriksson; Brij K. Dhindaw; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Volume change during solidification is an important concept in achieving of casting soundness. The solidification shrinkage can cause different defects in the ingot casting as well as the shape casting. The volume change due to phase transformation during solidification is the other concept which has to be studied. READ MORE

  4. 19. Formation of Bainite in Steels

    Author : Jiaqing Yin; Annika Borgenstam; Bevis Hutchinson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fe-C alloys; Bainitic transformation; Proeutectoid ferrite; Upper bainite; Lower bainite; Morphology; Steels.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : A systematic survey of morphology of bainite and proeutectoid ferrite was carried out in order to validate some old thoughts of bainite transformation mechanism. It is confirmed that there is no morphological evidence supporting a sharp change neither between Widmanstätten ferrite and the ferritic component of upper bainite, nor between upper and lower bainite. 5. 20. Flotation of silicate minerals : physico-chemical studies in the presence of alkylamines and mixed (cationic/anionic/non-ionic) collectors

    Author : Vidyadhar Ari; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : The mechanism of adsorption of long chain alkyl primary amines and, co-adsorption of amines and alcohols on silicate minerals (quartz and feldspar) were studied using FTIR (DRIFT and IRRAS) and XPS spectroscopy methods. The spectroscopy data were correlated with zeta-potential and Hallimond flotation results. READ MORE
