1. Cost-effectiveness and Value of Further Research of Treatment Strategies for Cardiovascular Disease
Abstract : Economic evaluations provide a tool to estimate costs and health consequences of competing medical technologies, ultimately to aid decision makers when deciding which medical technologies should be funded from available resources. Such decisions inevitably need to be taken under uncertainty and it is not clear how to approach them in health care decision-making. READ MORE

2. Chemical substitution with a life cycle perspective: The case of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in durable water repellents
Abstract : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to support the process of substitution of side-chain fluorinated polymers in durable water repellents (DWRs), that give rise to emissions of hazardous per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). The focus was on: i) the provision of improved decision support regarding the environmental and human health performance of alternatives, and ii) public readiness for substitution and what messages can motivate consumers to voluntary substitution. 3. Experimental Aerothermal Study on Internal Jet Engine Structures
Abstract : For commercial aviation, one potential gain in efficiency can be found in the jet engine auxiliary modules, such as internal jet engine components. These components have historically largely been overlooked, prioritising units such as turbines or compressors. READ MORE

4. Geosystem services to support decisions on subsurface use
Abstract : Awareness of the subsurface is in general low and is not a daily concern for decision-makers. This often results in that decisions on access to subsurface resources instead are guided by a ‘first come, first served principle’. READ MORE

5. Planning for Solar Buildings in Urban Environments
Abstract : Energy use in buildings accounts for a significant proportion of the total energy use in many countries. While past and current buildings have solely been energy consumers, future buildings will, besides using less energy, also need to produce (part of ) the required energy on site with renewables.
