    Author : SHUO GUO; Pär Jönsson; Andrey Karasev; Anders Tilliander; Robert Eriksson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel; Heat treatment; REM-treat steel; Ce modification; Chip breakability; weight distribution of chips Non-metallic inclusions; Deformation; Electrolytic extraction; stål; värmebehandling; REM-behandlade stål; Ce modifiering; spånbrytning; viktsdistribution av spån; icke-metalliska inneslutningar; deformation; elektrolytisk extraktion.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The presence of non-metallic inclusions (NMIs) have critical effects on both the mechanical properties and machinability of steels. In the present thesis, one focus is to study the characteristics of deformed sulfides (MnS) for a stainless steel (3R65) and a tool steel (42CrMo4). READ MORE

  2. 12. Some aspects of hydrogen reduction of iron ore

    Author : Oscar Hessling; Pär Jönsson; Du Sichen; Niklas Kojola; Henrik Saxén; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydrogen; reduction; iron ore; mechanisms; microstructure; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Fines of hematite and magnetite were studied in the fluidized bed using a pure hydrogen atmosphere in the temperature range of 768 to 888 K. Hematite pellets were studied based on Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) experiments using hydrogen atmospheres containing 0–15 % pH2O, in the temperature range of 873 to 1173 K. READ MORE

  3. 13. A study of the autogenous Hydrogen-DRI slag and its impact on the dephosphorization of fossil-free steel at different oxygen potentials

    Author : Joar Huss; Pär Jönsson; Du Sichen; Niklas Kojola; Chris Pistiorius; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The present study comprises aspects related to the phosphate capacity, the dephosphorization of fossil-free steel, and the utilization of potential by-products. The focus is mainly given to the functions and impact of the autogenous H-DRI slag in the dephosphorization process and the possibility for future slag valorization. READ MORE

  4. 14. A Study of Parameters and Properties Influencing the Size, Morphology and Oxygen Content of Water Atomized Metal Powders

    Author : Fredrik Persson; Pär Jönsson; Christopher Neil Hulme; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The production of metal powders by water atomization is a well-established process, which can be used to produce a wide range of particle sizes for different applications. In general, there is a lack of detailed knowledge about what process parameters that affect the powder properties for water atomized metal powders. READ MORE

  5. 15. Non-metallic inclusions in pipeline steels and their effect on the corrosion resistance

    Author : Elena Sidorova; Andrey Karasev; Pär Jönsson; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pipeline steels; Ca-treatment; non-metallic inclusions; electrolytic extraction; corrosion; chemical extraction; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract :  This thesis focus on investigations of the influence of non-metallic inclusions on corrosion in steel samples taken at different stages of the steel production when producing pipeline steels. The electrolytic extraction technique was used to extract inclusions from these steel samples and thereafter studying them using scanning electron microscopy in combination with energy dispersive microscopy.
