  1. 1. The process atmosphere as a parameter in the Laser-Powder Bed Fusion process

    Author : Camille Nicole Géraldine Pauzon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process stability; 316L stainless steel; Ti-6Al-4V; Laser-Powder Bed Fusion; processing atmosphere; process control; powder degradation; Additive Manufacturing;

    Abstract : Laser-Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) is an Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique that allows to produce near-net shape components of complex design. Applied to metallic materials, L-PBF allows to consolidate subsequent layers of powder using the heat from laser radiation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Delubrication of Chromium Prealloyed Powder Metallurgy Steels

    Author : Seshendra Karamchedu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; alloyed sintered steels; delubrication; surface oxide; sintering atmosphere; processing atmosphere control; lubricant;

    Abstract : Consolidation of steel components produced by means of powder metallurgy (PM) is achieved typically through compaction and sintering. During consolidation, final dimensions of the part are already achieved after compaction, while sintering imparts strength to the components. READ MORE

  3. 3. Critical Aspects of Delubrication and Sintering of Chromium-alloyed Powder Metallurgy Steels

    Author : Seshendra Karamchedu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; delubrication; oxide reduction; surface oxide; carbon control; sintering atmosphere; chromium-alloyed sintered steels;

    Abstract : The cost efficiency and performance of Powder Metallurgy (PM) steels can be improved by replacing conventionally used alloying elements such as copper and nickel with chromium. Utilizing chromium imposes a challenge in terms of processing due to its effect on powder compressibility and high oxygen affinity, the latter of which, to a certain extent, is dealt with by introducing chromium in prealloyed form that decreases its activity. 4. 4. High Performance Manufacture of Sintered Steel – Critical Aspects of Tooling Performance and Sintered Microstructure

    Author : Sepehr Hatami; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tool Steels; Chromium Alloyed Steel; Modelling; Process Selection; Sinter-Hardening; Atmosphere; Microstructure; Galling; Pressing Dies; Wear;

    Abstract : Steel is the dominant material for the production of structural parts. By means of powder metallurgy (PM) processing, manufacturers have been able to manufacture steel parts with appreciable dimensional accuracy and desirable mechanical properties. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tailored process gases for laser powder bed fusion

    Author : Camille Nicole Géraldine Pauzon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Helium; Laser powder bed fusion; AM process productivity; Spatter particles; Residual oxygen; 316L stainless steel; Argon; Nitrogen; Additive manufacturing; Process atmosphere; Process stability; Residual stresses.; Ti-6Al-4V; Alloy 718;

    Abstract : Metal laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) allows for production of complex components using the energy from a laser to locally melt micron-sized powder following a layer-wise approach. Considerable scientific efforts are focused on addressing the influence of the process parameters on the melting stability and the control of material properties, while developing necessary monitoring and characterization tools.
