  1. 1. Stem and progenitor cell involvement in acute lymphoblastic leukemia

    Author : Anders Castor; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; Haematology; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; ETV6-RUNX1; BCR-ABL1; stem cells; Acute lymphoblastic leukemia; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : Leukemic stem cells (LSCs) share the capacity of self renewal and extensive proliferation with normal hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and are therefore obvious targets for therapy. As such, they need to be identified and characterized in order to elucidate what drives them, and what separates them from their normal counterparts. READ MORE

  2. 2. Stem cell function and organ development : analysis of Lhx2 function in hematopoietic stem cells and eye development

    Author : Lina Dahl; Leif Carlsson; Jan-Ingvar Jönsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lhx2; hematopoietic system; hematopoietic stem cell; progenitor; embryonic stem cell; embryoid body; eye development; forebrain; eye field transcription factor; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molecular medicine  genetics and pathology ;

    Abstract : When a multicellular organism suffers damages to tissues/organs it heals itself by either substituting the lost cellular matrix by scar formation or by regenerating the lost tissue. Regeneration likely occurs by a recapitulation of the developmental process that formed the organ. READ MORE

  3. 3. Early fate decisions in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Through the lens of genomic and functional assays

    Author : Fatemeh Safi; Avdelningen för molekylär hematologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematopoiesis; HSCs; singel cell sc ; scRNA-seq; scATAC-seq; CD9; Aging;

    Abstract : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are rare cells on top of the differentiation hierarchy of hematopoiesis. HSCs are unique in their combined capacity to differentiate into all mature blood lineages and self-renew to maintain the HSC pool. READ MORE

  4. 4. Neuronal and glial differentiation of expanded neural stem and progenitor cells; in vitro and after transplantation

    Author : Cecilia Eriksson Linsmeier; Neurobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gtv-a; RCAS A -EGFP; transplantation; cell detection; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; GFP-actin; glial differentiation; neuronal differentiation; neurospheres; glial cultures; bFGF; EGF; cell expansion; cortical primordium; MGE; LGE; CNS; stem- progenitor cells;

    Abstract : In this thesis we have used cells dissected from the lateral ganglionic eminence (LGE), the medial ganglionic eminence (MGE), and the cortical primordium of the embryonic mouse forebrain. The tissue was dissected from either i) wild-type mice, ii) green fluorescent protein (GFP)-, or iii) Gtv-a-expressing transgenic mice, and subsequently grown and expanded in vitro using two different protocols. 5. 5. New neurons and astrocytes in the adult brain. Studies on adult rat neural progenitors in vivo and in vitro with special reference to the effects of IGF-I and CNTF regarding proliferation and lineage determination

    Author : Maria A I Åberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Brain; hippocampus; rat; neurogenesis; progenitor cell; stem cell; ciliary neurotrophic factor; insulin-like growth factor-I; PI3-K; MAPK.;

    Abstract : The hippocampal dentate gyrus in several species, including man, continues to produce new neurons and glial cells in adulthood. The generation of new neurons and glial cells in the adult hippocampus is under strict regulation. Two major events of significance for cell genesis from progenitor cells are proliferation and lineage determination. READ MORE
