  1. 6. Prognostic markers and DNA methylation profiling in lymphoid malignancies

    Author : Sujata Bhoi; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; H Denis Alexander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lymphoid malignancies; CLL; MCL; prognostic markers; micro-RNA; methylation; stereotyped subsets;

    Abstract : In recent years, great progress has been achieved towards identifying novel biomarkers in lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), at the genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic level for accurate risk-stratification and prediction of treatment response. In paper I, we validated the prognostic relevance of a recently proposed RNA-based marker in CLL, UGT2B17, and analyzed its expression levels in 253 early-stage patients. READ MORE

  2. 7. Genomic and transcriptomic sequencing in chronic lymphocytic leukemia

    Author : Diego Cortese; Richard Professor; Carlos López Otín; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic; lymphocytic; leukemia; CLL; genomics; transcriptomics; DNA; RNA; mutations; NGS; whole-exome; sequencing; prognostic; markers; TP53; SF3B1; RPS15; relapse; stereotyped; subsets.;

    Abstract : Identification of recurrent mutations through next-generation sequencing (NGS) has given us a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) development and progression and provided novel means for risk assessment in this clinically heterogeneous disease. In paper I, we screened a population-based cohort of CLL patients (n=364) for TP53, NOTCH1, SF3B1, BIRC3 and MYD88 mutations using Sanger sequencing, and confirmed the negative prognostic impact of TP53, SF3B1 or NOTCH1 aberrations, though at lower frequencies compared to previous studies. 3. 8. Testicular cancer – response adapted treatment, prognostic markers and survivorship issues

    Author : Sven-Erik Olofsson; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; testicular cancer; response adapted treatment; prognostic markers; survivorship; work ability; work loss; RBM3;

    Abstract : In the US and most European countries, testicular cancer is the most common malignancy in young men aged 20-40 years. Since the introduction of cisplatin-based treatment in the 1970s, more than 95% of the patients are cured. READ MORE

  5. 10. Prognostic markers in pediatric leukemia and mechanisms of KRAS induced leukemogenesis

    Author : Anna Staffas; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prognostic markers; AML; T-ALL; leukemia; FLT3; NPM1; ERG; BAALC; KRAS;

    Abstract : Leukemia results from uncontrolled growth of genetically altered blood cells. Depending on the cell type of origin, the leukemia is defined as T-cell, B-cell, or myeloid and as acute or chronic depending on its characteristics. However, patients with a certain subtype of leukemia (e.g. READ MORE
