  1. 1. Community-based osteoporosis prevention: Physical activity in relation to bone density, fall prevention, and the effect of training programmes : The Vadstena Osteoporosis Prevention Project

    Author : Ann-Charlotte Grahn Kronhed; Margareta Möller; Toomas Timpka; Leif Svanström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vadstena Osteoporosis Prevention Project VOPP ; weight-bearing training study; physical activity; training programmes; elderly; forearm bone mineral density BMD ; balance-training; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on studies of the ten-year community-based intervention programme entitled, the Vadstena Osteoporosis Prevention Project (VOPP). The specific aims of the research were to describe the effects of physical activity and training programmes on bone mass and balance performance in adults, to determine whether a fall risk prevention programme could motivate personal actions among the elderly, to ascertain whether the intervention programme could reduce the incidence of forearm and hip fractures. 3. 3. Structural evolution of two ore-bearing Palaeoproterozoic metasupracrustal belts in the Kiruna area, Northwestern Fennoscandian Shield

    Author : Joel Andersson; Tobias Bauer; Olof Martinsson; Luth Stefan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this project, two key study areas in the northwestern Fennoscandian Shield are under investigation. The “Western supracrustal belt” and “Central Kiruna area” are both located along lithotectonically comparable Rhyacian-Orosirian metasupracrustal belts and both areas are characterized by iron oxide-apatite (IOA) and iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG)-style mineralizations and related hydrothermal alterations. 4. 4. Generation of urban runoff : Seasonal and climate change perspective

    Author : Shahab Moghadas; Claes Hernebring; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Runoff generation in cold regions is characterized by snowmelt contributions to runoff during the periods of thawing and changing runoff patterns due to frozen ground. This thesis project aimed at addressing these challenges by advancing the procedures for winter urban runoff computations and the assessment of control measures during the winter/spring period, when the snowmelt and frozen soils dominantly impact runoff generation in the current and future climates.
