1. Determination of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in district heating mains : Field measurements
Abstract : This thesis concerns the development of a measurement method for determination in the field of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in buried district heating mains. The thermal conductivity of the insulation is calculated from the measured value of the radial heat flow through the heating main, the measured temperature difference across the insulation, and the dimensions of the heating main. 2. Interaction of sound waves with a swirl stabilized wood powder flame and their effects on flame characteristics
Abstract : Swirling flows have been widely used for many years in engineering applications such as; chemical and mechanical mixing devices, separation units, spray drying technologies, turbo machinery and combustion systems. In practical combustion applications, swirl motion has been adopted to the incoming reactant flows in order to enhance the mixing of fuel and oxidizer and to improve flame stabilization and establishment, especially in regions of relatively low velocities, by recirculating hot product gas to the incoming reactants. 3. Low Frequency Impact Sound in Timber Buildings : Simulations and Measurements
Abstract : An increased share of construction with timber is one possible way of achieving more sustainable and energy-efficient life cycles of buildings. The main reason is that wood is a renewable material and buildings require a large amount of resources. READ MORE

4. Non-contact surface wave measurements on pavements
Abstract : In this thesis, nondestructive surface wave measurements are presented for characterization of dynamic modulus and layer thickness on different pavements and cement concrete slabs. Air-coupled microphones enable rapid data acquisition without physical contact with the pavement surface. READ MORE

5. EMC in railway systems : measurements, modeling and analysis
Abstract : The subject of this study and resulting thesis was to investigate the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems in the multi-electrical signaling circuitry along a railway track. These signaling systems have been expanding over time from buried multi-wired electrical copper cables to optical fiber cables, sometimes located parallel to the contact line in the catenaries.
