  1. 6. Controlled Degradation of Polyester-Ethers Revealed by Mass Spectrometry Techniques

    Author : Anders Höglund; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Jukka Seppälä; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Degradation products; biocompatibility; -caprolactone; 1; 5-dioxepan-2-one; 6-hydroxyhexanoic acid; 3- 2-hydroxyethoxy propanoic acid; oligomers; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The use of degradable biomedical materials in e.g. tissue engineering and controlled drug delivery has changed medical science during recent decades. The key question is to adapt the material with respect to mechanical properties, surface characteristics, and degradation profile to suit its intended application. READ MORE

  2. 7. Nitric oxide in cardiovascular and renal disease : role of organic nitrates, inorganic nitrate and red blood cells

    Author : Zhengbing Zhuge; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : RATIONALE: Cardiovascular and renal disorders are major health problems, which are often co-existing. Mechanistically, these conditions can be attributed to endothelial dysfunction, a process coupled with reduced nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability. READ MORE

  3. 8. Chloride-based Silicon Carbide CVD

    Author : Henrik Pedersen; Erik Janzén; Anne Henry; Yaroslav Koshka; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Silicon carbide (SiC) is a promising material for high power and high frequency devices due to its wide bandgap, high break down field and high thermal conductivity. The most established technique for growth ofepitaxial layers of SiC is chemical vapor deposition (CVD) at around 1550 °C using silane, SiH4, and lighthydrocarbons e g propane, C3H8, or ethylene, C2H4, as precursors heavily diluted in hydrogen. 4. 9. Optimization of Low-Level Controllers and High-Level Polymer Grade Changes

    Author : Per-Ola Larsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process control; PID control; robustness; noise sensitivity; dynamic optimization; polymerization; Modelica;

    Abstract : Two design problems at different levels in the control hierarchy are considered; optimization of robust low-level controllers with constrained control signal activity and optimization of economical high-level polyethylene grade changes. As for the first design problem, a constraint on control signal activity due to measurement noise is presented and used when optimizing and comparing PI/PID controllers with measurement filters of different orders.
