  1. 1. Enantioselective Binding of Designed Propranolol Analogues to the Cellobiohydrolase Cel7A

    University dissertation from Organic Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Alexandra Fagerström; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Strukturkemi; Structure chemistry; enzymologi; Proteiner; enzymology; Proteins; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; capillary electrophoresis; chiral recognition; enantiomeric selectivity; cellobiohydrolase Cel7A; propranolol; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the affinity and enantiomeric selectivity of the cellobiohydrolase Cel7A (isolated from Hypocrea jercorina). The chiral recognition of the enzyme has been studied with respect to amino alcohols and new ligands have been designed, based on the structure of the common ?-blocker propranolol. READ MORE

  2. 2. Stereoselective Transport of Drugs Across the Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) In Vivo and In Vitro Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Studies of the (S)- and (R)-Enantiomers of Different 5-HT1A Receptor Agonists and Antagonists

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Hongmei Yan; Uppsala universitet.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; pindolol; propranolol; 2- di-n-propylamino tetralin; racemate; enantiomer; drug distribution; brain; rat; blood-brain barrier; Neurovetenskap; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Internal medicine Neurology; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Invärtesmedicin Neurologi; Psychiatry; psykiatri;

    Abstract : Delivery of drugs to the brain requires passage across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Both for drugs already on the market and for new drugs under development, it is important to know to what extent a drug enters the CNS. Many drugs used clinically are racemic mixtures, i.e. READ MORE

    Abstract : Specific molecular recognition materials are important in analytical applications. It has been a longstanding dream for scientific explorers to realise a versatile method to generate materials that can recognize biological and chemical substance of interests. READ MORE

  4. 4. Psychotropic Pharmaceuticals in Aquatic Systems: An Ecological Perspective

    University dissertation from Department of Biology, Lund University

    Author : Melanie Hedgespeth; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ecotoxicology; aquatic; trophic level; pharmaceutical; SSRI; beta-blocker; sertraline; fluoxetine; propranolol; fish; daphnia; snail; predator; prey; behavior; life history; multiple stressor;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in English Psychotropic pharmaceuticals include various groups of chemicals that have been designed to affect neurochemistry in human consumers resulting in changes in cognition, mood, and/or behavior; many target specific receptors and subsequently alter neurotransmitter levels in the central nervous system. The use of pharmaceuticals by consumers results in the release of these active substances and their breakdown products into the environment, the main source of which is through domestic wastewater treatment plants connected to households.
