  1. 11. Whey protein adsorption and aggregation on modified stainless steel surfaces in relation to fouling

    Author : Olga Santos; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; Modelling; Dynamic light scattering; Aggregation; Flow cell; Ellipsometry; Adsorption; Whey protein; Fouling; Modified stainless steel;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the possibilities to reduce fouling by 1.Modifying the stainless steel surface. READ MORE

  2. 12. Structure and Phase Behavior of Protein Solutions

    Author : Björn Persson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistical Mechanics; Simulations; Protein Interactions; Phase Separation; Aggregation; Mutual Amplification;

    Abstract : The complexity of proteins is reflected in the structure of their fluids. This is seen from strongly inhomogeneous distributions about the single protein. Using molecular simulations of protein models, based on experimental structures, the present work probes the directional forces between proteins. READ MORE

  3. 13. Protein-protein interactions in model systems : design, control of catalytic activity and biosensor applications

    Author : Johan Rydberg; Lars Baltzer; Joel Schneider; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Protein interactions; design; catalysis; biosensors; hybride materials; nanoparticles; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the design of polypeptides, unordered in the monomeric state but capable of folding into helix-loop-helix motifs and dimerise to form four-helix bundles. The goal of the design was to encode them with the capacity to form dimers highly selectively and the ability to carry out molecular functions in the folded state but not in the unordered state, and thus to establish a molecular link between recognition and function. 4. 14. On the molecular mechanisms of the amyloid β-peptide aggregation

    Author : Kalyani Sanagavarapu; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein aggregation; amyloid β-peptide; aggregation kinetics; aggregation mechanism N-terminus; mutations; variants; sequence determinants; ; cross-seeding;

    Abstract : The pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease is widely believed to be due to production and deposition of the amyloid β-peptide. Several variants of the Aβ peptide are known to exist in in vivo. Variations include mutations or additional functional groups attached to residue side chains and may affect the aggregation process. 5. 15. Protein aggregation: Computational modeling and Monte Carlo algorithm development

    Author : Sigurdur Jonsson; Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte Carlo simulations; protein aggregation; disordered proteins; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Jonsson;

    Abstract : Although organisms have evolved sophisticated cellular mechanisms for regulating their various protein networks, proteins sometimes start to clump together in an uncontrolled way. The aggregation of proteins has been associated with a range of serious diseases. READ MORE
