  1. 16. Structural and thermodynamical basis for molecular recognition between engineered binding proteins

    Author : Jakob Dogan; Per-Åke Nygren; John E. Ladbury; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; protein structure; induced fit; binding thermodynamics; NMR spectroscopy; protein engineering; protein-protein interactions; protein stability; calorimetry; Structural biochemistry; Strukturbiokemi;

    Abstract : The structural determination of interacting proteins, both as individual proteins and in their complex, complemented by thermodynamical studies are vital in order to gain in-depth insights of the phenomena leading to the highly selective protein-protein interactions characteristic of numerous life processes. This thesis describes an investigation of the structural and thermodynamical basis for molecular recognition in two different protein-protein complexes, formed between so-called affibody proteins and their respective targets. 2. 17. Protein Microarray Chips

    Author : Goran Klenkar; Bo Liedberg; Brian MacCraith; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microarray; biosensor; biomolecular interaction; narcotics detection; imaging ellipsometry and surface plasmon resonance; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik;

    Abstract : Livet tas för givet av de flesta. Det finns däremot många som ägnar stora delar av sitt liv för att försöka lösa dess mysterier. En del av lösningen ligger i att förstå hur alla molekyler är sammanlänkade i det gigantiska nätverk som definierar den levande organismen. READ MORE

  3. 18. Protein-protein interactions in model systems : design, control of catalytic activity and biosensor applications

    Author : Johan Rydberg; Lars Baltzer; Joel Schneider; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Protein interactions; design; catalysis; biosensors; hybride materials; nanoparticles; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the design of polypeptides, unordered in the monomeric state but capable of folding into helix-loop-helix motifs and dimerise to form four-helix bundles. The goal of the design was to encode them with the capacity to form dimers highly selectively and the ability to carry out molecular functions in the folded state but not in the unordered state, and thus to establish a molecular link between recognition and function. 4. 19. Navigating the Cellular Crowd : Physicochemical Properties of Protein Surfaces as Evolved Interaction Guides

    Author : Eloy Vallina Estrada; Mikael Oliveberg; Erik Lindahl; Gideon Schreiber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein interactions; inteins; physicochemical properties; protein surfaces; evolution; cellular crowding; electrostatics; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Abstract : The cellular interior is characterised by high concentrations of macromolecules. Compared with dilute conditions, the crowd modifies proteins' ability to fold, diffuse and, ultimately, carry out their biological functions. Cellular fitness depends on ensuring an adequate balance between interactivity and diffusivity. READ MORE

  5. 20. Decipher protein complex structures from sequence

    Author : Wensi Zhu; Arne Elofsson; Nathalie Reuter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein complex structure prediction; protein interaction; AI; AlphaFold; biokemi med inriktning mot bioinformatik; Biochemistry towards Bioinformatics;

    Abstract : Proteins are essential constituents of biological systems. A profound understanding of protein structure is significant for unraveling the intricate mechanisms of biological processes. The recent development of computational methods using AI technology is revolutionizing the structural biology field. READ MORE
