  1. 6. Making Visible the Proximity Between Proteins

    Author : Carl-Magnus Clausson; Ola Söderberg; Jens Coorssen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Proximity ligation assay; In situ PLA; rolling circle amplification; protein interaction; protein-protein interaction; in situ; single cell; single molecule; protein complex; antibody; cancer; tissue section; microscopy; image analysis; system biology; multiplex; dynamic range; methods development; systems biology; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : Genomic DNA is the template of life - the entity which is characterized by a self-sustaining anatomical development, regulated signaling processes, the ability to reproduce and to respond to stimuli. Through what is classically known as the central dogma, the genome is transcribed into mRNA, which in turn is translated into proteins. READ MORE

  2. 7. Protein complexes : assembly, structure and function

    Author : Kristina Wilhelm; Ludmilla Ludmilla Morozova-Roche; Catharina Svanborg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HAMLET; ELOA; lysozyme; amyloid; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Abstract :  Most proteins must fold into their native conformations to fulfil their biological functions. Failure of proteins to fold leads to cell pathology and a broad range of human diseases referred to as protein misfolding disease, e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and type II diabetes. 4. 9. Protein-Protein Interactions in Human Aquaporin Regulation

    Author : Jennifer Virginia Roche; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Membrane proteins; Human Aquaporins; water channels; Protein-protein interaction; Regulation; AQP2; AQP0; LIP5; CaM;

    Abstract : Water is an essential compoment of every living orgamism and forms a major part of the human body. Regulated water transport is crucial for proper cell functioning and body homeostasis. READ MORE

  5. 10. The Interaction Between the Chaperonin GroEL and Human Carbonic Anhydrase II : Protein Folding and Stability Studies

    Author : Malin Persson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbonic anhydrase; protein folding; protein stability; chaperone; GroEL; folding mechanism; site-directed spinlabeling; electron paramagnetic resonance EPR ;

    Abstract : The presence of GroEL/ES during the refolding of human carbonic anhydrase II was found to increase the yield of active enzyme from approx. 70 to approx. 100%. This chaperone action on the enzyme could be obtained by adding GroEL alone, and the time course in that case was only moderately slower than the spontaneous process. READ MORE
