  1. 1. p53 Alterations in Human Skin : A Molecular Study Based on Morphology

    Author : Ling Gao; Christer Bush Bush; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; p53; skin; mutation; carcinogenesis; microdissection; UV; Basal cell cancer BCC ; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Mutation of the p53 gene appears to be an early event in skin cancer development. The present study is based on morphology and represents a cellular and genetic investigation of p53 alterations in normal human skin and basal cell cancer. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Interaction of the Adenovirus E1B-55K Protein with a Histone Deacetylase Complex: Its Importance in Regulation of P53 Protein Functions

    Author : Tanel Punga; Göran Akusjärvi; Klas G. Wiman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; adenovirus; E1B-55K; p53; histone acetylation; Sin3; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The human tumour suppressor protein p53 is an effective inhibitor of cell growth, by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. However, p53-induced cell growth inhibition can be detrimental for virus multiplication. Therefore, viruses encode for proteins, which can interfere with the functions of the p53 protein. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pathophysiological impact of targeting the ROS-p53 axis

    Author : Volkan I. Sayin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Antioxidants; Cancer; p53; ROS; atherosclerosis;

    Abstract : The goal of this PhD thesis was to define the importance of the interplay between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and their activation of the tumor suppressor p53 in development and disease. We addressed this question using molecular biology and biochemical techniques together with mouse genetics and bioinformatics. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies of polyglutamine expanded Ataxin-7 toxicity

    Author : Xin Yu; Anna-Lena Ström; Albert La Spada; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neurodegeneration; SCA7; protein degradation; aggregation; p53; oxidative stress; NOX; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : Spinocerebellar ataxia type 7 (SCA7) is an autosomal dominant inherited neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure. SCA7 belongs to the group of polyglutamine disorders, which are all caused by the expansion of a polyglutamine tract in different disease proteins. READ MORE
