  1. 1. Microgel Interactions with Peptides and Proteins : Consequence of Peptide and Microgel Properties

    Author : Ronja Widenbring; Martin Malmsten; Per Hansson; Catherine Picart; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Binding; Degradation; Enzyme; Gel; Hydrogel; Microgel; Peptide; Protein; Release; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Microgels are lightly cross-linked hydrogel particles in the sub-micrometer to micrometer size range with a capacity to drastically change their volume in response to changes in the external environment. Microgels have an ability to bind and store substances such as biomacromolecular drugs, notably proteins and peptides, and release them upon stimuli, making them potential candidates as drug delivery vehicles and functional biomaterials. 2. 2. Modification of Surface Properties Through Polymer Adsorption. Kinetics, Interaction, Degradation and Stability

    Author : Dries Muller; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TIRF.; protein; poly lactide ; poly ethylene oxide ; gelatin; exchange; enzyme; ellipsometry; desorption; degradation; adsorption; copolymers; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The interfacial behaviour of polymers in relation to surface modification and polymer degradation was studied. In the first part the interfacial behaviour of amphiphilic poly(ethylene oxide)–poly(D,L-lactide) (EmLn) diblock copolymers at hydrophilic and hydrophobic substrates from aquous solution was studied. Abstract : Thiopurine S-methyltransferase (TPMT) belongs to the Class I S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase (SAM-MT) super family of structurally related proteins. Common to the members of this large protein family is the catalysis of methylation reactions using S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as a methyl group donor, although SAM-MTs act on a wide range of different substrates and carry out numerous biologically important functions. 4. 4. Regulation of tartrate-resistant purple acid phosphatase by proteolytic processing in rat

    Author : Jenny Ljusberg-Sjölander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Purple acid phosphatase; enzyme catalysis; proteolytic processing;

    Abstract : Purple acid phosphatase (PAP) is an iron-containing binuclear acid metallohydrolase with a characteristic purple colour, also referred to as tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), uteroferrin or type 5 acid phosphatase. PAP is highly expressed in osteoclasts and has a role in bone resorption. READ MORE
