  1. 6. Physiology of Adventure Racing : with emphasis on circulatory response and cardiac fatigue

    Author : C. Mikael Mattsson; Björn Ekblom; Keith P George; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiovascular drift; cardiac fatigue; adventure race; cardiac biomarkers; cardoac function; exercise echocardiography; Physiology; Fysiologi; Cardiology; Kardiologi; Sports; Idrott; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : The overall aims of this thesis were to elucidate the circulatory responses to ultra-endurance exercise (Adventure Racing), and furthermore, to contribute to the clarification of the so called “exercise-induced cardiac fatigue” in relation to said exercise. An Adventure race (AR) varies in duration from six hours to over six days, in which the participants have to navigate through a number of check-points over a pre-set course, using a combination of three or more endurance/outdoor sports, e. 2. 7. Controllable coupling of superconducting qubits and implementation of quantum gate protocols

    Author : Margareta Wallquist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Controllable Qubit-Coupling; Single Cooper-Pair Box; Josephson Effect; Quantum Gate; Superconducting Circuit; Quantum Computer; Qubit; Quantum Electrical Circuit;

    Abstract : The concept of a quantum computer was invented in the beginning of the 1980s as a quantum generalization of the reversible classical computer. After discoveries in the middle of the 1990s of quantum algorithms, which wouldsolve some problems considered intractable for classical computers, the field of quantum computing has developed rapidly. Abstract : Abstract Sophisticated liposomal systems are emerging at an increasing rate to meet the demands for multifunctional drug carriers in chemotherapies in combined with hyperthermia. For example, liposomal drug carriers for temperature-controlled drug release under hyperthermic conditions have recently been tested in clinical trials. READ MORE

    Abstract : Governance of innovation – deploying an architectural framework for innovation of technological systems for energy, security and defence Innovation has a great deal of attraction but is associated with serious uncertainties and downsides. It is potentially beneficial for growth, sector and industrial development and competitiveness. READ MORE

  5. 10. Methods for Creating and Exploiting Data Locality

    Author : Dan Wallin; Erik Hagersten; Sverker Holmgren; David Wood; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; data locality; temporal locality; spatial locality; prefetching; cache; cache behavior; cache coherence; snooping protocols; partial differential equation; shared-memory multiprocessor; chip multiprocessor; simulation; Computer engineering; Datorteknik;

    Abstract : The gap between processor speed and memory latency has led to the use of caches in the memory systems of modern computers. Programs must use the caches efficiently and exploit data locality for maximum performance. READ MORE
