  1. 1. Aspects of parastomal hernia

    Author : Christoffer Odensten; Ulf Gunnarsson; Pia Näsvall; Jeaneth Johansson; Tero Rautio; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; parastomal hernia; colostomy; surgical technique; patient experience; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : Parastomal hernia (PSH) is a common complication to all ostomies, and all too well known to colorectal surgeons. Up to half of all stomates get a PSH. PSH may present itself as a protrusion or a bulge of the stoma that contains bowel or other content of the abdominal cavity. The symptom load varies from none to debilitating. READ MORE

  2. 2. Earthquake Sources and Hazard in northern Central America

    Author : Diego José Cáceres Calix; Ota Kulhánek; Vladimir Schenk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Northern Central America; Probabilistic Seismic Hazard; Body waveform modeling; Seismic Active Deformation; Earthquake Triggering; Geofysik; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Abstract : Northern Central America is a tectonically complex zone defined by its borders with Cocos and North America plates. The Middle America subduction zone and the strike-slip motion along the North America-Caribbean plate boundary, in that order, control most of its deformation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nano-particulate Silica Hydrogels Imaged in 2D and 3D using TEM: Effects of local pore structure on mass transport and applications in aggregation dynamics

    Author : Charlotte Hamngren Blomqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; silica gel; colloidal silica gel; interconnectivity; nanoporous; electron tomography; silica nanoparticle gel; mass transport; nanostructure; accessible volume fraction; 3D structure;

    Abstract : Porous materials are frequently used in everyday applications including food science, pharmaceuticals, fuel cell membranes, batteries and solar cells. A key aspect in these porous materials is how their micro- and nano-structure affect the internal transport of for example water, particles or charges. The transport is a three-dimensional process. 4. 4. Boundary singularities of plurisubharmonic functions

    Author : Mårten Nilsson; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pluripotential theory; envelope of plurisubharmonic functions; complex Monge-Ampère equation; Jensen measures;

    Abstract : We study the Perron–Bremermann envelope P(μ, φ):=sup{u(z) ; u ∈ PSH(Ω), (ddcu)n≥ μ, u^* ≤ φ} on a B-regular domain Ω. Such envelopes occupy a central position within pluripotential theory as they, for suitable μ and φ harmonic and continuous on the closure of Ω, constitute unique solutions to the Dirichlet problem for the complex Monge–Ampère operator. 5. 5. Multipoint Okounkov bodies, strong topology of ω-plurisubharmonic functions and Kähler-Einstein metrics with prescribed singularities

    Author : Antonio Trusiani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Okounkov bodies; Seshadri constant; Kähler-Einstein metrics; Kähler Geometry; Canonical metrics; Fano manifolds; Pluripotential theory; Complex Monge-Ampère equations; Kähler packing;

    Abstract : The most classical topic in Kähler Geometry is the study of Kähler-Einstein metrics as solution of complex Monge-Ampère equations. This thesis principally regards the investigation of a strong topology for ω-plurisubharmonic functions on a fixed compact Kähler manifold (X,ω), its connection with complex Monge-Ampère equations with prescribed singularities and the consequent study of singular Kähler-Einstein metrics.
