  1. 1. Novel Technologies for Mode-Locking of Solid-State Lasers

    Author : Niels Meiser; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Steinmeyer Günter; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; laser; mode-locked laser; pulsed laser; quantum dot; carbon nanotube; nonlinear optics; saturable absorber; Kerr-lens mode-locking; ultra-fast laser; picosecond laser; pulsed laser; semiconductor saturable absorber;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the investigation of novel technologies for mode-locking of diode-pumped, solid-state lasers. Novel saturable absorbers are used: quantum dots (QDs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which both are low-dimensional nano-formations. In addition, mode-locking by cascaded nonlinearities is explored. 2. 2. Laser diode systems for photodynamic therapy and medical diagnostics

    Author : Eva Samsöe Andersen; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quasi-phasematching; photodynamic therapy; laser-induced fluorescence; medical laser systems.; Histology; cytochemistry; histochemistry; tissue culture; Histologi; Laserteknik; Laser technology; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur; Diagnostik; Diagnostics; second harmonic generation; pulsed lasers; spatial filtering; Diode lasers; optical feedback; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Samsöe Andersen;

    Abstract : This work concerns techniques for improvement of the coherence properties of diode lasers so that they may be used in two specific medical applications: (Interstitial) photodynamic therapy (PDT) and laser-induced fluorescence diagnostics. In the first application, spatial coherence is crucial, since the treatment light should be delivered through relatively thin optical fibers to optimize treatment and to facilitate minimally invasive treatment. 3. 3. Blue Laser Source for Laser-Induced Fluorescence

    Author : Jesper Holm; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Second Harmonic Generation; Lasers; PPKTP; ALA; Tapered laser diodes; External cavity lasers; Laser-induced fluorescence; photodynamic therapy; mTHPC;

    Abstract : Laser-induced fluorescence is a clinical diagnostic tool, used for tumor demarcation and detection. The technique relies on the injection or topical application of a light sensitive drug called a photosensitizer. This substance has the ability to be accumulated to higher concentrations in cancer cells than in normal cells. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multifunctional magnetic materials prepared by Pulsed Laser Deposition

    Author : Sandeep Nagar; Lyuba Belova; K. Venkat Rao; Prashanth Kamath; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magnetic materials; thin films; pulsed laser depsoition; spintronics; chromites; MgO; NEMS; MEMS;

    Abstract :      Pulsed LASER deposition (PLD) is widely recognized as excellent deposition technique owing to stoichiometric transfer of target material, easy preparation and high quality. Thin films from few nanometers to micrometer regime can be fabricated with equal ease. READ MORE

  5. 5. Short-Pulse Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics - Laser-Induced Fluorescence of Polyatomic Molecules and Developments in Measurement and Evaluation

    Author : Thomas Metz; Förbränningsfysik; []
