  1. 1. Exhaust Heat Utilisation and Losses in Internal Combustion Engines with Focus on the Gas Exchange System

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Habib Aghaali; KTH.; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbocharger; heat transfer; heat loss; exhaust heat utilisation; waste heat recovery; turbocompound; divided exhaust period; internal combustion engine; gas exchange; pumping loss; variable valve timing; WHR; DEP; Turbo; värmeöverföring; värmeförluster; avgasvärme utnyttjande; förluster vid värmeåtervinning; turbocompound; delad avgasperiod; förbränningsmotor; gasväxling; pumpningsförlust; variabla ventiltider; WHR; DEP; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Exhaust gas energy recovery should be considered in improving fuel economy of internal combustion engines. A large portion of fuel energy is wasted through the exhaust of internal combustion engines. Turbocharger and turbocompound can, however, recover part of this wasted heat. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mitral annulus motion in left ventricular pumping

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköpings universitet

    Author : Kent Emilsson; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Abstract : Den här avhandlingen fokuserar på den roll som mitralringsrörelsen (MRR), d v s vänster kammares (VK) förkortning i längsaxelriktning, och yttre konturforändringen i kortaxelriktning spelar under kammarens kontraktion. Förmakskontraktionernas inverkan på VK dimensioner och volymer samt relationen mellan MRR och ejektionsfraktion (EF) hos patienter med sinusrytm och förmaksflimmer studeras också. READ MORE

    Abstract : In the present information age, people across the globe generate an enormous digital footprint. Therefore, it is necessary to store and process the information in an elegant way. Spin-logic circuits are being considered potential candidates beyond CMOS integrated computing due to high clock speed, non-volatility, and higher logical efficiency. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hemodynamic assessment in patients with congenital heart disease using magnetic resonance imaging

    University dissertation from Lund University: Faculty of Medicine

    Author : Pia Sjöberg; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : AbstractAround 1000 children are born with a heart disease in Sweden every year and today most of these children survive and reach adult age. There are around 2.3 million grownups with congenital heart disease in Europe today, a number that is expected to continue to increase. READ MORE

  5. 5. Seawater intrusion risks and controls for safe use of coastal groundwater under multiple change pressures

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology, Stockholm University

    Author : Aikaterini Mazi; Stockholms universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; seawater intrusion; coastal aquifer; tipping points; safe operating space; analytical solution; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : In the era of intense pressures on water resources, the loss of groundwater by increased seawater intrusion (SWI), driven by climate, sea level and landscape changes, may be critical for many people living in commonly populous coastal regions. Analytical solutions have been derived here for interface flow in coastal aquifers, which allow for simple quantification of SWI under extended conditions from previously available such solutions and are suitable for first-order regional vulnerability assessment and mapping of the implications of climate- and landscape-driven change scenarios and related comparisons across various coastal world regions.
