  1. 1. Sparse Codes on Graphs with Convolutional Code Constraints

    Author : Muhammad Umar Farooq; Kommunikationsteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Braided codes; Density evolution; Serially concatenated codes; Spatially coupled codes; Generalized LDPC codes; threshold saturation; Turbo codes;

    Abstract : Modern coding theory is based on the foundation of the sparse codes on graphs, such as the low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, and the turbo-like codes (TCs) with component convolutional codes. The success of the LDPC codes and the TCs lies in their ability to perform low-complexity iterative message passing decoding procedures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multirate Codes and Multicarrier Modulation for Future Communication Systems

    Author : Pål Frenger; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; channel estimation; code-spread CDMA; DS-CDMA; convolutional codes; interference cancellation; nested convolutional codes; multicarrier modulation; optimum distance spectrum ODS ; rate-compatible punctured convolutional codes RCPC-codes ; OFDM; turbo decoding; rate matching; parallel combinatory signaling; Rayleigh fading;

    Abstract : In this thesis, new detection and modulation methods for multicarrier systems are presented. The proposed multicarrier detectors are based on feedback of previously detected symbols and the idea is to exploit the correlation, both in time between consecutive symbols, and in frequency between neighboring sub-carriers. 3. 3. Convolutional Codes for Wireless Packet Data Systems

    Author : Sorour Falahati; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tailbiting coding; rate compatible punctured convolutional codes; adaptive modulation system; hybrid type-II ARQ; Rayleigh fading.;

    Abstract : Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) schemes can guarantee an almost error freereception strongly required in data communications. Hybrid type-II ARQschemes are supplied with channel coding to further improve the performance.In these schemes, error correction is performed adaptively which makesthem favorable for applications in time varying channels. 4. 4. Channel Coding and Multiuser Detection for CDMA and Wireless Communications

    Author : Pål Orten; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rate compatible punctured convolutional RCPC codes; optimum distance spectrum ODS ; low-rate convolutional codes; interference cancellation; code-division multiple-access CDMA ; sequential decoding; automatic repeat request ARQ ; multiuser detection; maximum free distance MFD ; nested convolutional codes; tailbiting; rate matching;

    Abstract : Next generation wireless communication systems will require support for many different applications as well as improved quality compared to existing second generation systems like GSM (Global System for Mobile communications). Since there will be more users and higher data rates, the capacity must also be increased. READ MORE

  5. 5. Joint Source-Channel Coding using Trellis Coded CPM

    Author : Zihuai Lin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; iterative decoding; serially concatenated CPM; punctured ring convolutional codes.; trellis coded quantization; turbo codes; turbo trellis coded modulation; soft decoding; ring convolutional coded CPM; continuous phase modulation; Joint source channel coding;

    Abstract : The thesis investigates Joint Source and Channel Coding(JSCC) using combined Trellis Coded Quantization (TCQ) and coded modulation. First we investigate a JSCC scheme using combined TCQ/Trellis Coded CPM (TCQ/TCCPM). Based on the BCJR algorithm for trellis coded CPM, we derive an optimal soft decoding algorithm for the considered systems. READ MORE
