16. Antivirulent and antibiofilm salicylidene acylhydrazide complexes in solution and at interfaces
Abstract : The growing bacterial resistance against antibiotics creates a limitation for using traditional antibiotics and requests development of new approaches for treatment of bacterial infections. Among the bacterial infections that are most difficult to treat, biofilm-associated infections are one of the most hazardous. READ MORE

17. Acoustic Trapping in Biomedical Research
Abstract : Herein a method that uses acoustically resonating glass capillaries and enables non-contact capture of micron-sized bioparticles, i.e. acoustic trapping, is described. A miniaturized ultrasonic transducer is used to locally actuate a cross-sectional resonance in the capillary. READ MORE

18. Converter Interfaced Distributed Generation - Grid Interconnection Issues
Abstract : Distributed generation (DG) with a converter interface to the grid is found in many of the green power resources applications. In this thesis, the control of a voltage source converter (VSC), as the DG front end, is in focus regarding the power quality problems that could appear at the connection point. READ MORE

19. Studies in Semantic Modeling of Real-World Objects using Perceptual Anchoring
Abstract : Autonomous agents, situated in real-world scenarios, need to maintain consonance between the perceived world (through sensory capabilities) and their internal representation of the world in the form of symbolic knowledge. An approach for modeling such representations of objects is through the concept of perceptual anchoring, which, by definition, handles the problem of creating and maintaining, in time and space, the correspondence between symbols and sensor data that refer to the same physical object in the external world. 20. Go the Extra Mile for Accountability : Privacy Protection Measures for Emerging Information Management Systems
Abstract : The thesis considers a systematic approach to design and develop techniques for preventing personal data exposure in next generation information management systems with the aim of ensuring accountability of data controllers (entities that process personal data). With a rapid growth in the communication technologies, heterogenous computing environments that offer cost-effective data processing alternatives are emerging.
