  1. 1. Mechanisms and genes controlling the signalling network for biotic and abiotic stress defences in Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heyhn : Functional cross-talk between photo-produced reactive oxygen species, photosynthesis and plant disease defence responses

    Author : Christine Chi-Chen Chang; Stanislaw Karpinski; Christine Foyer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; reactive oxygen species; Arabidopsis thaliana; signalling work; biotic stress; abiotic stress; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Abstract : Excess excitation energy, mechanical injury and defence against pathogens, each trigger rapid production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in Arabidopsis thaliana leaves. ROS, such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), are required for the induction of systemic acquired acclimation and may lead to redox changes in photosynthetic electron transport (PET). READ MORE

  2. 2. Plant Oxylipins and Lipid Transfer Proteins in Defense : - It’s all about the fat

    Author : Per Fahlberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Oxylipins, the oxygenated metabolites of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), are found in many eukaryotic organisms. In plants, several enzymes can produce different types of oxylipins, and the chloroplast structural galactolipids mono- and digalactosyl diacylglycerol (MGDG and DGDG, respectively) are examples of sources of substrate PUFAs. 3. 3. Banana xanthomonas wilt and potato bacterial wilt in Rwanda : biology, risk factors and farmers’ awareness

    Author : Florence Uwamahoro; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Banana (Musa spp.) and potato (Solanum tuberosum) are important food and cash crops worldwide as they contribute to food security and income generation for farmers. Despite their importance, banana and potato do not reach their potential production due to a number of limitations, including pests and diseases. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electricity Distribution Network Planning Considering Distributed Generation

    Author : Yalin Huang; Lennart Söder; Karin Alvehag; Peiyuan Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : Electricity distribution network; network planning; distributed generation; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : One of EU’s actions against climate change is to meet 20% of our energy needs from renewable resources. Given that the renewable resources are becoming more economical to extract electricity from, this will result in that more and more distributed generation (DG) will be connected to power distribution. 5. 5. Land Use Conflicts between Agriculture and Energy Production : Systems Approaches to Allocate Potentials for Bioenergy and Agrophotovoltaics

    Author : Daniel Ketzer; Peter Schlyter; Henrik Ny; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Renewable energies; Geographic Information Systems; Agrophotovoltaics; Participatory technology development; Responsible Research and Innovation; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The developments towards a bio-based economy and a renewable energy-based power supply require thorough assessments of feedstocks and frameworks. In the past, political targets for increasing shares of renewable energies for combatting climate change have triggered direct land use changes (LUCs) and even indirect land use changes (iLUCs).
