  1. 1. Functional PVC Additives : Core-Shell Nanoparticle and Renewable Resource Plasticizers

    Author : Bo Yin; Minna Hakkarainen; Mikael Skrifvars; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PVC; nanocomposite; nanoparticle; core-shell; plasticizer; renewable resources; isosorbide; glucose;

    Abstract : Several functional poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) additives were designed: PVC plasticizers made from renewable resources as alternatives to traditional phthalate plasticizers and core-shell nanoparticle-plasticizers with the aim to design an additive that can improve several mechanical properties simultaneously. Monomeric and oligomeric PVC plasticizers based of isosorbide and glucose were synthesized. READ MORE

  2. 2. Poly(Alkylthiophene) Blends Processing, Morphology and Conductivity

    Author : Nils Ljungqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Intrinsically conducting polymers may be an attractive alternative instead to polymers with conducting fillers. The aim of the present work was to study the potential of the processable conducting polymer poly(3-alkylthiophene) as well as possible problems related to its processing. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electron microscopy and microanalysis of polymers and polymer blends : artifacts and applications

    Author : Henrik Lindberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : Electron microscopy and microanalysis is used to examine the degradation of unstainable polymers and polymer blends in order to gain an understanding and arrive at methods for characterizing microstructures. Several methods have been used in order to obtain complementary ways of establishing artifacts arising from specimen preparation effects, the internal energy of the components, and degradation under the electron beam together with low or zero contrast between phases in a blend. 4. 4. Morphology of Polymers - Development of Electron Microscopy Methods

    Author : Helen Hassander; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SEM; TEM; polymer; electron microscopy; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : Most polymeric materials used today are not simple homopolymers, but consist of more than one polymer, which lead to morphologies of different length scale and shape. It is important to receive knowledge of the morphologies because the properties of the materials change depending on the structure. READ MORE
