1. Functional PVC Additives : Core-Shell Nanoparticle and Renewable Resource Plasticizers
Abstract : Several functional poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) additives were designed: PVC plasticizers made from renewable resources as alternatives to traditional phthalate plasticizers and core-shell nanoparticle-plasticizers with the aim to design an additive that can improve several mechanical properties simultaneously. Monomeric and oligomeric PVC plasticizers based of isosorbide and glucose were synthesized. READ MORE

2. Poly (butylene succinate) and poly (butylene adipate) : quantitative determination of degradation products and application as PVC plasticizers
Abstract : A solid phase extraction (SPE) method was developed for simultaneous extraction of dicarboxylic acids and diols formed during hydrolysis of poly(butylene succinate), PBS, and poly(butylene adipate), PBA. The developed SPE method and subsequent GC-MS analysis were used to extract, identify and quantify low molecular weight products migrating from linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) (PBA) and poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) during aging in aqueous media. 3. Green plasticizers for PVC - An investigation of renewable alternatives to phthalates derived from vegetable oils or wood industry products
Abstract : Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a very versatile thermoplastic because of its ability to solve a broad range of different concentrations of plasticizer. Phthalates are still the most commonly used plasticizer in PVC, but due to public opinion and legislation against phthalates there is a demand in the market for both old and new phthalate free plasticizersProperties of epoxidized oils of soybean (ESBO), canola (ECO), sunflower (ESFO) and safflower (ESAO) were investigated to determine their suitability as plasticizers. 4. Environmentally Friendly Plasticizers for PVC : Improved Material Properties and Long-term Performance Through Plasticizer Design
Abstract : Linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) polyesters with number-average molecular weights ranging from 700 to 10 000 g/mol, and degrees of branching ranging from very low to hyperbranched were solution cast with PVC to study the effects of chemical structure, molecular weight, end-group functionality, and chain architecture on plasticizing efficiency and durability. Miscibility was evaluated by the existence of a single glass transition temperature and a shift of the carbonyl group absorption band. READ MORE

5. Morphology of Polymers - Development of Electron Microscopy Methods
Abstract : Most polymeric materials used today are not simple homopolymers, but consist of more than one polymer, which lead to morphologies of different length scale and shape. It is important to receive knowledge of the morphologies because the properties of the materials change depending on the structure. READ MORE
