  1. 6. Probing Interactions between Bio-Fibre Components

    Author : Niklas Nordgren; Mark Rutland; Harry Brumer; Vincent Bulone; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AFM; QCM-D; cellulose; xyloglucan; surface forces; friction; colloidal probe; nanotribology; biomimetic; enzymatic; polysaccharide; self assembly; grafting; thiol; spring constant; calibration; photodetector calibration.; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : I den här avhandlingen har atomkrafts mikroskopi (AFM) och kvartskristall mikrovåg med dissipation (QCM-D) används för att undersöka interaktioner i bio-fiber modell system av cellulosa och xyloglukan (XG); en naturligt förekommande polysackarid viktig för tillväxt av träd och andra växter. Dessutom har det avgörande momentet av friktionskrafts-kalibrering studerats för att erhålla noggranna och kvantitativa resultat med kolloidal prob AFM. READ MORE

  2. 7. Concatemerization of Synthetic Oligonucleotides, Assembly on Surface and Ligand Interactions

    Author : Lu Sun; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA formation; DNA concatemer; self-assemble; gel electrophoresis; DNA-binding; hybridization; QCM-D;

    Abstract : DNA nanotechnology has become an important research field because of its advantages in high predictability and accuracy of base-paring recognition. DNA concatemer, one of the simplest DNA constructs in shape, have been found as efficient signal amplifiers in several biosensors for different applications. READ MORE

  3. 8. RNA in model lipid membranes - interactions in bulk and at surfaces

    Author : Agnes Michanek; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ssRNA; RNA origami; dsDNA; selfassembly phospholipids; model membranes; monolayer; QCM-D; DSC; Neutron reflectometry; hydrophobic interaction; cationic surfactants; sphingosine; phase behavior;

    Abstract : The work presented in the thesis “RNA in model lipid membranes- interactions in bulk and at surfaces” aims to characterize the interaction between RNA and model membranes with different properties as well as to determine if ssRNA associate with model membranes in different ways. Several techniques have been used to characterize these systems, including quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D), Langmuir film balance in combination with neutron reflectometry and fluorescence microscopy as well as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC). 4. 9. Concatemerization of Synthetic Oligonucleotides

    Author : Lu Sun; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gel electrophoresis; DNA-binding; QCM-D; DNA concatemer; hybridization; DNA formation; self-assembly;

    Abstract : DNA nanotechnology has become an important research field because of its advantages in high predictability and accuracy of base-paring recognition. For example, the DNA concatemer, one of the simplest DNA constructs in shape, has been used to enhance signals in biosensing. READ MORE

  5. 10. Surface Modifications for Biointerfaces - Supported Lipid Bilayers and some Aspects of Microcontact Printing

    Author : Karin Glasmästar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; QCM-D; PDMS; cell attachment; supported lipid bilayer; microcontact printing; SPR; ToF-SIMS; protein adsorption; formation kinetics; XPS;

    Abstract : Biointerfaces engage several disciplines: physics, materials science, chemistry, biology and medicine. They are found on the surfaces of implants, tubes and tanks in the food industry or on the hull of a boat. In this work, model surfaces aimed for contact with biological systems were studied.
