21. Atomic decomposition of molecular properties
Abstract : In this thesis, new methodology of computing properties aimed for multipleapplications is developed. We use quantum mechanics to compute propertiesof molecules, and having these properties as a basis, we set up equations basedon a classical reasoning. READ MORE

22. Multivariate linear normal models with special references to the growth curve model
Abstract : The Growth Curve Model (GMAN0VA) introduced by Potthoff & Roy (1964) and two extensions are considered. The first extension treats a Growth Curve Model with concomitant variables whereas the second is applicable when different growth curves or when linear restrictions on the parameter space, describing the mean structure in the Growth Curve Model, exist. 23. On optimization of natural convection flows
Abstract : Two different techniques are presented for enhancing the thermal performance of natural convection cooled heat sinks. The physics is described by solving the conjugate heat transfer problem with a spectral element method. The temperature distribution is computed in two sub-domains, whose solution is then conjugated. 24. Power transfer in the air gap of linear generators for wave power
Abstract : An increased need for electric energy and share of renewable energy is important for a more sustainable future, to which wave power can contribute. Some concepts for wave power use linear generators, and the studies presented here focus on the power transfer and forces in the air gap of linear generators. READ MORE

25. Structure-Exploiting Numerical Algorithms for Optimal Control
Abstract : Numerical algorithms for efficiently solving optimal control problems are important for commonly used advanced control strategies, such as model predictive control (MPC), but can also be useful for advanced estimation techniques, such as moving horizon estimation (MHE). In MPC, the control input is computed by solving a constrained finite-time optimal control (CFTOC) problem on-line, and in MHE the estimated states are obtained by solving an optimization problem that often can be formulated as a CFTOC problem.
