  1. 1. New solid-state NMR methods for exciting and separating anisotropic interactions of spin I=1 nuclei

    Author : Rihards Aleksis; Andrew Pell; Robert Schurko; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solid-state NMR; quadrupolar; paramagnetic shifts; spinning solids; materials; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Solid-state NMR has become an essential tool for structural characterisation of materials, in particular systems with poor crystallinity and structural disorder. In recent years, a surge of interest has been observed for the study of paramagnetic systems, in which the interaction between nuclei and unpaired electrons allows to probe the electronic structure and properties of materials more directly. 2. 2. Coil Design and Related Studies for the Fusion-Fission Reactor Concept SFLM Hybrid

    Author : Anders Hagnestål; Olov Ågren; Vladimir Moiseenko; Ladislav Bardos; Jan Scheffel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion; Fission; Hybrid reactor; Actinides; Mirror Machine; Quadrupolar mirror; Coils; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : A fusion-fission (hybrid) reactor is a combination of a fusion device and a subcritical fission reactor, where the fusion device acts as a neutron source and the power is mainly produced in the fission core. Hybrid reactors may be suitable for transmutation of transuranic isotopes in the spent nuclear fuel, due to the safety margin on criticality imposed by the subcritical fission core. READ MORE

  3. 3. Probing Paramagnetic Systems by Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy

    Author : José P. Carvalho; Andrew J. Pell; Sharon Ashbrook; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solid-state NMR; Magic-Angle Spinning; Paramagnetic NMR; Frequency-Swept Adiabatic Pulses; Quantum Chemistry; Quadrupolar Interaction; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Paramagnetic systems have a wide range of applications ranging from energy storage or conversion to catalytic processes, metalloproteins and light-emitting materials. Over the recent years nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has become an established tool for studying the structural and electronic properties of these systems, largely because it can provide a link between the structure and the bulk properties. 4. 4. Theoretical NMR-lineshape studies of quadrupolar ions in chemically exchanging systems

    Author : Elisabet Berggren; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

  5. 5. Some aspects of the slow motion problem in the NMR-relaxation theory : a theoretical study of high spin systems

    Author : Per-Olof Westlund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : A theory of nuclear spin relaxation in paramagnetic complexes, allowing for the electron spin relaxation to be in the slow motion regime, is presented. The lattice i3 described in terms of the electron Zeeman interaction, a zero field splitting (ZFS) and a Markov operator for the relevant classical degrees of freedom. READ MORE
