  1. 1. Microscopic Properties of Superdeformed Nuclei

    Author : Lennart B Karlsson; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical physics; gravitation; superdeformation; Nilsson-Strutinsky; modified oscillator potential; moments of inertia; transition energies; rotational bands; quadrupole moments; spin assignments; identical bands; additivity.; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; termodynamik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Karlsson;

    Abstract : Many high spin rotational bands in superdeformed nuclei have been found in the A ~ 140-150 region, but so far no linking transitions to known normal-deformed states have been found in these nuclei. Therefore, configuration and spin assignments have to be based on indirect spectroscopic information. READ MORE

  2. 2. Atomic Electrons as Sensitive Probes of Nuclear Properties and Astrophysical Plasma Environments : A Computational Approach

    Author : Asimina Papoulia; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Papoulia; Computational atomic structure; Relativistic atomic theory; Transition probabilities; Abundance analysis; Landé g-factors; Hyperfine structure; Nuclear quadrupole moments; Isotope shift; Field shift; Nuclear deformation;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the relativistic modeling of atoms and ions. To interpret the stellar spectra and gain more insight from astrophysical observations, the underlying processes that generate the spectra need to be well understood and described. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development and Implementation of Methods in Theoretical Chemistry

    Author : Jesper Wisborg Krogh; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; UO2; Electrostatic potential; Photo dissociation; Nuclear Quadrupole Moment; Relativity; RASSCF; LoProp; Method development; Parallelization; Sn; Bromoiodomethane; Theoretical chemistry; quantum chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : The method development research in the field of theoretical chemistry is the never ending quest for methods that are faster, gives more accurate results, and expands the possibilities. The work in this thesis is no exception to that statement. READ MORE

  4. 4. Rotational Bands and Pairing Interaction in the Shell Model

    Author : Andrius Juodagalvis; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical physics; gravitation; relativity; Rotational bands; Shell model; Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky; Pairing interaction; Backbending; Band termination; Proton-neutron pairing; Quadrupole electromagnetic moments and transition strengths; N=Z nuclei; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; klassisk mekanik; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Juodagalvis; termodynamik; statistisk fysik; kvantmekanik; relativitet;

    Abstract : One of the goals pursued in the present research was to understand the nuclear phenomena (such as rotational bands, their backbending and termination, deformation, pairing correlations, etc.) using different views provided by different nuclear models. READ MORE

  5. 5. Decay Properties and Hyperfine Interactions in Oriented Alpha-, Beta- and Gamma-emitting Nuclei

    Author : Mats Lindroos; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The hyperfine interaction has often been described as the bridge between atomic physics and nuclear physics. On the one hand it enables us to study important nuclear phenomena which only manifest themselves in the strong internal fields originating from the surrounding electrons and on the other hand it enables us to study properties of the atomic system or of condensed matter using nuclear probes.
