  1. 6. Quantitative image analysis : a focus on automated characterization of structures in optical microscopy of iron ore pellets

    Author : Frida Nellros; Carolina Wählby; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : Sintering occurs in many types of material such as iron, ceramics and snow, typically during thermal treatment, and aects the material properties, particularly the strength, by the bonding of particles into a coherent structure. In order to improve the mechanical strength in magnetite iron ore pellets it is important to be able to characterize and quantitatively measure the degree of sintering and features that impact the process of sintering. 2. 7. Vaginal prolapse – clinical outcomes and patients’ perspectives : a study using quantitative and qualitative methods

    Author : Mojgan Pakbaz; Mats Löfgren; Ingrid Mogren; Ewa Rolfsman; Martin Stjerquist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vaginal prolapse; national register; pelvic organ prolapse surgery; anaesthesia; knowledge about prolapse; experience; qualitative content analysis; questionnaire; Obstetrics and gynaecology; Obstetrik och gynekologi; obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Abstract : Background: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a relatively common condition. In Sweden, the overall estimated prevalence of POP in the female population is 31% and the prevalence of symptomatic prolapse is 8–15%. The prevalence of POP increases with age. The lifetime risk of undergoing pelvic floor surgery is estimated to 11%. READ MORE

  3. 8. Type Ia Supernova Cosmology : Quantitative Spectral Analysis

    Author : Gastón Folatelli; Ariel Goobar; Enrico Cappellaro; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supernova; Cosmology; Spectroscopy; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Type Ia supernovae have been successfully used as standardized candles to study the expansion history of the Universe. In the past few years, these studies led to the exciting result of an accelerated expansion caused by the repelling action of some sort of dark energy. READ MORE

  4. 9. Incorporating user values in the design of information systems and services in the public sector : a methods approach

    Author : Niklas Hallberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis is motivated by the aim of public-sector organizations to become more efficient by quality improvement efforts and the introduction of infonnation systems. The main objective is to explore methods for the design of infonnation systems and information-system-supported services in the public sector, which meet the users' needs. READ MORE

  5. 10. Patient and relative perspective regarding quality in hospital care for older people : Theory and Methods

    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; patient perspective; older patients; relatives; quality of care; hospital care; POCR; process perspective; continuous quality improvement;

    Abstract : Although the elderly population consumes a relatively large proportion of health care, international research has focused little attention on older people and their perception of health care and its outcome. Information is also scanty concerning relatives in hospital care and their actions and the circumstances related to relatives' participation in the care process. READ MORE
