    Author : Arvid Larsson; Per Olof Holtz; Artur Zrenner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dot; semiconductor; optical properties; spin; transport; wetting layer; polarization; kvantprick; halvledare; optiska egenskaper; spin; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Condensed matter physics; Kondenserade materiens fysik; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with optical studies of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in the InGaAs material system. It is shown that for self-assembled InAs QDs, the interaction with the surrounding GaAs barrier and the InAs wetting layer (WL) in particular, has a very large impact on their optical properties. Abstract : This thesis builds on new cross-disciplinary research between engineering and educational sciences. Recently, two other theses that combine research in physics and education (Åke Ingerman, 2002, and Tom Adawi, 2002) have been completed in Sweden. This thesis consolidates a trend that can benefit both disciplines. READ MORE

  4. 24. Semiconductor Quantum Dots Studied by Time-Resolved Luminescence Techniques

    Author : Jörg Siegert; KTH; []
    Keywords : quantum dots; semiconductors; photoluminescence; time-resolved;

    Abstract : In this thesis time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopyis presented as a powerful tool to study the carrier dynamicsin various self-assembled quantum dot (QD) structures, whichare potentially attractive for device applications. The experiments reveal the impact of proton irradiation onInGaAs QDs and comparable quantum wells. READ MORE

  5. 25. Cathodoluminescence Studies of Quantum Structures and III-V nitrides

    Author : Anders Petersson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AlGaN; Fysik; Physics; GaN-AlGaN; single dot spectroscopy; InP-GaInP; Stranski Krastanow; quantum dots; quantum wires; low-dimensional structures; InAs-GaAs; III-V nitride; Cathodoluminescence; III-V semiconductors; Fysicumarkivet A:1999:Petersson;

    Abstract : Characterization of low-dimensional semiconductor structures is a challenging task. The thesis is based on experiments, using cathodoluminescence (CL) as a tool for characterization. The high spatial resolution and the possibility of spectroscopy of small structures make CL one of the most powerful techniques for these types of investigations. READ MORE
