16. Majorana Representation in Quantum Optics : SU(2) Interferometry and Uncertainty Relations
Abstract : The algebra of SU(2) is ubiquitous in physics, applicable both to the atomic spin states and the polarisation states of light. The method developed by Majorana and Schwinger to represent pure, symmetric spin-states of arbitrary value as a product of spin-1/2 states is a powerful tool that allows for a great conceptual and practical simplification. 17. Thermoelectric Phenomena in Quantum Dots
Abstract : Thermoelectricity is being intensively researched as it is believed to hold great promise for applications in power generation and cooling. One way to quantify the electrical power output of a thermoelectric material is the power factor, a function of electrical conductivity and thermopower. READ MORE

18. Transport Studies of Local-Gate Defined Quantum Dots in Nanowires
Abstract : This thesis focuses on electrical transport in semiconductor InAs nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy. Initially, transport length scales of homogeneous InAs n-type nanowires are characterized by low-temperature magnetoconductance measurements. The measurements show phase-coherent conductivity corrections. READ MORE

19. Electronic and Photonic Quantum Devices
Abstract : In this thesis various subjects at the crossroads of quantummechanics and device physics are treated, spanning from afundamental study on quantum measurements to fabricationtechniques of controlling gates for nanoelectroniccomponents.Electron waveguide components, i.e. READ MORE

20. Bell tests and the no-signalling assumption
Abstract : Bell's theorem was originally meant for testing fundamental properties of Nature, namely local realism. However, through the years it has become a powerful device for certifying encryption security, randomness, and entanglement among other properties. READ MORE
