  1. 1. Quantum optics in constrained geometries

    Author : Björn Hessmo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum chemistry; quantum optics; atom optics; complementarity; magnetic traps; laser cooling; quantum information; quantal phases; Kvantkemi; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi; Quantum Chemistry; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : When light exhibits particle properties, and when matter exhibits wave properties quantum mechanics is needed to describe physical phenomena. A two-photon source produces nonmaximally entangled photon pairs when the source is small enough to diffract light. It is shown that diffraction degrades the entanglement. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optical spectroscopy of InGaAs quantum dots

    Author : Arvid Larsson; Per Olof Holtz; Artur Zrenner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dot; semiconductor; optical properties; spin; transport; wetting layer; polarization; kvantprick; halvledare; optiska egenskaper; spin; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Condensed matter physics; Kondenserade materiens fysik; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with optical studies of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in the InGaAs material system. It is shown that for self-assembled InAs QDs, the interaction with the surrounding GaAs barrier and the InAs wetting layer (WL) in particular, has a very large impact on their optical properties. 3. 3. Multiparty Quantum Communication and fs-laser Written Integrated Optics Circuits

    Author : Ashraf Mohamed El Hassan; Mohamed Bourennane; Guillermo Andler; Marcos Curty; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum optics; quantum communication; quantum cryptography; fs-laser written waveguides; integrated optics circuits; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : Quantum information science, the rapidly developing interdisciplinary field,  gives power to the information and communications technologies (ICT) by  providing secure communication, precision measurements, ultra-powerful simulation and ultimately computation. It is well known that photons are an ideal candidate for encoding the quantum bit, or "qubit", in quantum information and specially for quantum communication. READ MORE

  4. 4. Optical Studies and Applications of Single Quantum Dots

    Author : Valéry Zwiller; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; time resolved photoluminescence; Physics; Fysik; Semiconductory physics; Halvledarfysik; Condensed matter:electronic structure; electrical; magnetic and optical properties; supraconductors; magnetic resonance; relaxation; spectroscopy; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; egenskaper elektriska; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; spektroskopi; magnetisk resonans; microphotoluminescence; microcavities; photoluminescence; quantum optics; nano-optics; photonics; low dimensional structures; quantum dots; Fysicumarkivet A:2001:Zwiller;

    Abstract : The luminescence from single quantum dots has been studied. Single dot photoluminescence was studied under continuous as well as under pulsed excitation. Time-resolved studies revealed fast relaxations in quantum dots. The time resolved measurements were fitted with a set of rate equations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quantum Wavepacket Dynamics in Molecular and Trapped Ion Systems

    Author : Dong Wang; Tony Hansson; Volker Engel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wavepacket; revival; anisotropy; polarization; Molecular physics; Molekylfysik; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The motions of a wavepacket in the two coupled potentials studied in this thesis can be classified into either bistable or astable motion according to the wavepacket interference at the curve crossing. Bistable motion, in which the wavepacket performs a coupled oscillation but remains in the same adiabatic and diabatic state, can exist both in bound-bound systems and bound-unbound ones with long time stability.
