    Abstract : This study of Canadian adventure romance for adolescents seeks to demonstrate the cultural significance of the genre through close readings of James Houston's Frozen Fire and The White Archer, Monica Hughes's Hunter in the Dark and Ring-Rise, Ring-Set, as well as Markoosie's Harpoon of the Hunter. By means of a semiotic-structuralist approach I examine the texts as a signifying system conveying discourses that constitute a code of connection to the social context of contemporary young-adult readers.     Abstract : This thesis investigates the development of Holocaust remembrance in France, taking the activities of the Centre de documentation juive contemporaine in Paris as its focus. By looking at the construction, function, and reception of Holocaust narratives in the twenty years following the end of the War, it shows how remembrance took shape within French historical culture, and, conversely, how representations of the genocide influenced France’s national-historical culture.     Abstract : The main purpose of the dissertation is to understand meaning-making practices used by people suffering from acquired brain damage with severe physical and communicative disabilities, in order to create and sustain their identity and personhood in relation to other people. The study emanates from the idea that identity and personhood, also in relation to disability, are created/sustained in ongoing interaction between people in everyday situations, and that the ability to narrate is central to such a creation of identity.
