16. Implementing new genomic tools to study ventral midbrain development and injury response in the newt Pleurodeles waltl
Abstract : Mammals have a poor ability to regenerate organs or tissues. In particular, brain neurons do not regenerate after damage. A good example of this limitation is the irreversible degeneration of midbrain dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Several strategies are being developed to treat PD. READ MORE

17. Progesterone receptor modulators in contraception : clinical implications of ovarian and endometrial effects
Abstract : Background: Emergency contraception (EC) offers a last chance to prevent an unwanted pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse (UPSI) but before pregnancy occurs, for example after contraceptive failure, non-use of contraception or after rape. Progesterone receptor modulators (PRMs) exert their effect through acting as partial antagonists and partial agonists of the progesterone receptor (PR) and have proven effective for EC in low doses by postponing or inhibiting ovulation if it was taken preovulatory in the menstrual cycle. 18. Dynamic Fetal and Placental Circulatory Changes during Uterine Contractions
Abstract : The best mode of delivery for fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and umbilical artery (UA) blood flow changes is not well elucidated. Uterine artery, fetal UA, middle cerebral artery (MCA), and venous blood flow changes during uterine contractions during an oxytocin challenge test (OCT) have not been observed systemically. 19. Diabetes, obesity and exercise in skeletal muscle : effects on gene expression and DNA methylation
Abstract : Type 2 diabetes, obesity and depression are growing concerns for human health. Physical exercise is a known protective factor against these disorders, although the underlying mechanisms are incompletely understood. READ MORE

20. Ionic modulators of stem cell state
Abstract : Tissue generation during development and maintenance throughout life relies on the proliferation and sequential specification of a group of cells. Stem cells are defined by the properties of self-renewal (division to produce daughter cells equipotent to the mother) and differentiation (division where at least one daughter is of a more restricted potential).
