1. Statistical Mechanical Studies of Aqueous solutions and Biomolecular Systems
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with theoretical studies of aqueous solutions and biomolecular systems. Part of the present work is to understand equilibrium solvent and solute properties, while the other part is to study processes that occur in these solutions. READ MORE

2. Experimental study of phase separation in Fe-Cr based alloys
Abstract : Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) are important engineering materials due to their combination of good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However, as a consequence of their ferrite content, DSSs are sensitive to the so-called ‘475°C embrittlement’, which is induced by phase separation, namely, the ferrite decomposed into Fe-rich ferrite (α) and Cr-rich ferrite (α'), respectively. 3. An Atom-Probe Tomography Study of Phase Separation in Fe-Cr Based Steels
Abstract : Stainless steels are very important engineering materials in a variety of applications such as in the food industry and nuclear power plants due to their combination of good mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance. However, ferrite-containing stainless steels are sensitive to the so-called ‘475°C embrittlement’, which is induced by phase separation of the ferrite phase, where it decomposes into Fe-rich ferrite (α) and Cr-rich ferrite (α'). 4. A Photometric Study of the Galactic Disks based on Strömgren Photometry
Abstract : One of the key questions in todays galaxy research is the formation and evolution of disk galaxies such as the Milky Way. Using observations in the intermediate band Stromgren uvby filter system we have investigated how both density and metallicity varies within the Galactic disks in order to learn more about the Galaxy and its past. 5. Noninvasive Evaluation of Myocardial Ischemia and Left Ventricular Function
Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was, following the path of the ischemic cascade, to evaluate the feasibility of some new non-invasive techniques for the detection of myocardial ischemia, the extent of infarcted myocardium, and for the quantification of systolic left ventricular function.Reduced longitudinal myocardial velocity and displacement may be early signs of ischemia.
