  1. 1. Determination of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in district heating mains : Field measurements

    Author : Karin Margaretha Borgström; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating main; field measurements; thermal conductivity; measuring method; heat flow measurement; heat flux sensor; Material physics with surface physics; Materialfysik med ytfysik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the development of a measurement method for determination in the field of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in buried district heating mains. The thermal conductivity of the insulation is calculated from the measured value of the radial heat flow through the heating main, the measured temperature difference across the insulation, and the dimensions of the heating main. 2. 2. Experimental analysis of thermal mixing at reactor conditions

    Author : Mattia Bergagio; Henryk Anglart; Paolo Vinai; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mixing estimator; empirical mode decomposition; Hilbert-Huang transform; uncertainty assessment; radial heat flux; Energy Technology; Energiteknik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : High-cycle thermal fatigue arising from turbulent mixing of non-isothermal flows is a key issue associated with the life management and extension of nuclear power plants. The induced thermal loads and damage are not fully understood yet. READ MORE

  3. 3. Properties of solid wood : responses to drying and heat treatment

    Author : Margot Sehlstedt-Persson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wood Physics; Träfysik;

    Abstract : The hygro-thermal processes that wood is exposed to during drying and heat treatment lead to different reactions or responses in the wood material. The objective of this thesis has been to study the impact of different drying and heat-treatment strategies on various responses, such as strength, sorption/desorption behaviour, dimensional stability and colour changes. 4. 4. The mechanisms controlling heat and mass transfer on frying of beefburgers

    Author : Bea Kovácsné Oroszvári; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; permeability; porosity; contraction; frying; beefburger; heat and mass transfer;

    Abstract : The aim of the present work was to gain better understanding of the mechanisms controlling heat and mass transfer during thermal processing of beefburgers. The effects of different factors such as the chemical composition and comminution of the meat raw material, the pan temperature and the meat patty diameter on the characteristics of heat and mass transfer were studied. Abstract : Recent literature shows that there is a significant potential of decarbonisation and efficiency improvement that can be achieved through the synergy from multi-energy systems (MESs). Coupling technologies, such as co-generation plants, heat pumps and thermal storages are widely recommended as means of unlocking additional flexibility and increasing the penetration of renewables in the heating and electricity sectors.
