  1. 1. Causal links of past climate change in Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 climate models

    Author : Thanh Le; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar forcing; volcanic forcing; greenhouse gases radiative forcing; Granger causality; near-surface air temperature; ENSO; IOD; CMIP5; North Atlantic;

    Abstract : The climate system is influenced by various external forcings (e.g. volcanic forcing, solar forcing and change of greenhouse gas concentrations) and its own internal climate variability. READ MORE

  2. 2. Historical anthropogenic radiative forcing of changes in biogenic secondary organic aerosol

    Author : Juan Camilo Acosta Navarro; Ilona Riipinen; Annica Ekman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Human activities have lead to changes in the energy balance of the Earth and the global climate. Changes in atmospheric aerosols are the second largest contributor to climate change after greenhouse gases since 1750 A.D. READ MORE

  3. 3. Volcanic Aerosols in the Upper Troposphere and Stratosphere – Aircraft- and Satellite-Based Observations

    Author : Sandra Andersson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbonaceous aerosol; sulphate; ash; volcanic particles; upper troposphere; lowermost stratosphere; Stratospheric aerosol; volcanism; aerosol optical depth; radiative forcing; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Andersson;

    Abstract : Volcanic eruptions are the largest source of variability in the stratospheric particle concentration as they inject SO2 that is subsequently converted into sulphate particles. No major perturbation of the stratospheric aerosol load has been observed since the large eruption of Pinatubo in 1991, but several moderate eruptions after 2000 have caused deviations from stratospheric background conditions. 4. 4. Studies of Volcanic Influence on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate

    Author : Johan Friberg; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lowermost stratosphere; volcanic aerosol; upper troposphere; sulfurous aerosol; carbonaceous aerosol; ion beam analysis; volcanism; indirect effect; radiative forcing; direct effect; Stratosphere; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Friberg;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the influence of volcanism on the compositions of the aerosols in the upper troposphere (UT) and lowermost stratosphere (LMS), and their direct and indirect impact on climate. Aerosol data were obtained by aircraft-borne sampling, using the CARIBIC (Civil Aircraft for the Regular Investigation of the Atmosphere Based on an Instrument Container) platform, and laboratory-based ion beam analysis of aerosol samples at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis Facility (LIBAF). 5. 5. Climate impact of the sustainable use of forest biomass in energy and material system : a life cycle perspective

    Author : Sylvia Haus; Johan Bergh; Bishnu Chandra Poudel; Krushna Mahapatra; Göran Berndes; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; forest residues; fossil fuel substitution; forest management; radiative forcing; land use change; climate change; bioenergy; Bioenergiteknik Energi- och Miljöteknik; Bioenergy Technology; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Human society releases greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere while providing housing, heat, mobility and industrial production. Man-made greenhouse gas emissions are the main causes of climate change, coming mainly from burning fossil fuels and land-use changes. READ MORE
