  1. 11. ARGET ATRP as a Tool for Cellulose Modification

    Author : Susanne Hansson; Eva Malmström; Anna Carlmark; Steve Edmondson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The importance of finding new applications for cellulose‐based products has increased, especially to meet the demand for new environmentally friendly materials, but also since the digitalization of our society will eventually decrease the need for paper. To expand the application area of cellulose, modification to improve and/or introduce new properties can be a requisite. READ MORE

  2. 12. Poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide) Polymer Brush Functionalized Nanostructures as Thermo-Responsive Gating Systems for Protein Transportation

    Author : Justas Svirelis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biomolecule transportation; Poly N-Isopropylacrylamide ; polymer brushes; fluorescence microscopy; thermo-responsive polymers; surface plasmon resonance;

    Abstract : Controlling molecule translocation through nanosized gaps is of great interest in novel systems for single molecule analysis and biomolecular membranes. The molecular gating property of thermo-responsive end-grafted poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) polymer brushes on well-shaped gold-silica nanostructures is intended to be investigated for controlled protein transportation via extinction spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy methods below and above PNIPAM lower critical solution temperature (LCST; 32 °C in water). 3. 13. Mechanical and swelling properties of hydrogels

    Author : Ting Yang; Anders Hult; Michael Malkoch; Jöns Hilborn; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Hydrogels have been used as one of the novel soft materials in many biomedical applications such as drug delivery and tissue engineering for recent decades.In the main part of this work, bi-functional poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) precursors with either thiols (PEG-SH) or allyls (PEG-Al) , covering molecular weights from 3 kDa to 8 kDa were synthesized and thoroughly characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-Raman and MALDI-TOF techniques. 4. 14. Surface Modification of Cellulose by Covalent Grafting and Physical Adsorption for Biocomposite Applications

    Author : Carl Bruce; Eva Malmström; Anna Carlmark; Linda Fogelström; Youssef Habibi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : There is an increasing interest to replace fossil-based materials with renewable alternatives. Cellulose fibers/nanofibrils (CNF) are sustainable options since they are biobased and biodegradable. In addition, they combine low weight with high strength; making them suitable to, for example, reinforce composites. READ MORE

  5. 15. Att organisera förändring: designperspektiv på organisationsförändringar i tillverkningsindustrin

    Author : Bertil Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; participation; testing ideas; organizational change; design theory; change process; design artefacts; reflection-on-action; capacity for change;

    Abstract : The objective of this study is to articulate the particular knowledge that is developed by participants in organizational-change projects, who succeed in questioning ingrained opinions and establishing new ideas, and developing alternatives. I thereby aim to contribute by setting new preconditions for participants in future change processes, so they can act as knowledgeable and creative individuals, with the capability to identify issues, and to proceed by trial-and-error.
