  1. 1. Accelerator mass spectrometry of 129I and its applications in natural water systems

    Author : Nadia Buraglio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Ion Physics; jonfysik;

    Abstract : During recent decades, huge amount of radioactive waste has been dumped into the earth's surface environments. 129I (T1/2 = 15.6 My) is one of the radioactive products that has been produced through a variety of processes, including atomic weapon testing, reprocessing of nuclear fuel and nuclear accidents. 2. 2. Microstructure Investigation of the Oxidation Process in Zircaloy-2 - The Effect of Intermetallic Particle Size

    Author : Pia Tejland; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Zircaloy-2; STEM; HAADF; ADF; FIB; SEM; EDX; APT;

    Abstract : Zirconium alloys are widely used in nuclear reactors as fuel cladding tubes because of their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, good corrosion properties and satisfactory mechanical properties. With an improved corrosion resistance the alloys could be used for much longer times in the reactors, increasing fuel burn-up and decreasing the amount of radioactive waste. READ MORE

  3. 3. Climatic conditions inside nuclear reactor containments - Monitoring campaign

    Author : Mikael Oxfall; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nuclear power plant; concrete; onsite measurements; relative humidity; boiling water reactor; pressurized water reactor; moisture transport coefficient; moisture flux.;

    Abstract : The reactor containment is one of the most important buildings at a nuclear power plant. In case of an accident the containment wall is the final protection against radioactive leakage to the surrounding environment. A reactor containment contains different types of concrete structures. 4. 4. Mass-Transport through Interfaces

    Author : Sofie Gårdebjer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; poly 3-hydroxybutyrate ; permeability; diffusion cells; poly lactide-co-glycolide acid ; mass-transport; polyethylene; poly lactic acid ; ethylene acrylic acid; interfaces; cellulose;

    Abstract : Many of the products in our daily life consist of layered structures, where packaging materials and wound care products can be mentioned as examples. These structures often consist of different kind of polymeric materials and between these materials interfaces are formed. READ MORE

  5. 5. The complexation of some radionuclides with natural organics : Implications for radioactive waste disposal

    Author : Maria Nordén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Natural organics like humic substances are important for the speciation, mobility and bioavailability of metals in the environment. This ability necessitates the investigation of what impact humic substances may have on radionuclides that accidentally can escape from radioactive waste repositories. READ MORE
