  1. 1. Acromioclavicular joint dislocations. Epidemiology, radiography and outcome

    Author : Jonas Nordin; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AC-led; Akromioklavikularled; Luxation; Epidemiologi; Kirurgi; Röntgen; AC-joint; Acromioclavicular joint; Acromioclavicular dislocation; Separation; Epidemiology; Radiography; Surgery; Outcome;

    Abstract : Background: Acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocations are common and frequently affecting young adults injured during sports. The Rockwood classification system is used to grade the dislocations according to the extent of injury to the soft tissues stabilizing the joint. READ MORE

  2. 2. Tomosynthesis in pulmonary cystic fibrosis

    Author : Kristina Vult von Steyern; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cystic fibrosis; Lung; Radiation dose; Radiography; Scoring methods; Tomography; spiral computed; X-ray computed;

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate whether chest tomosynthesis might be used in pulmonary cystic fibrosis, to design and validate a tomosynthesis scoring system, and to determine the effective dose from chest tomosynthesis in children. In a prospective study starting in 2008 clinical chest radiography or computed tomography (CT) were supplemented with a tomosynthesis examination of the lungs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Laser-Matter Interactions at Extreme Irradiance: X-ray Generation and Relativistic Channelling

    Author : Anders Sjögren; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; relativistic self-focusing; particle acceleration; x-ray generation; radiography; Laserteknik; Laser technology; laser-produced plasma; light scattering; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Sjögren;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes experimental work in which the powerful Ti:sapphire lasers at the High Power Laser Facility at the Lund Laser Centre have been employed to investigate laser-produced X-rays and relativistic channelling. These lasers produce short pulses, of the order of 50 fs, with energies ranging from 1 mJ to 1 J. READ MORE

  4. 4. Meniscal Tear - A Feature of Osteoarthritis

    Author : Martin Englund; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatologi; ortopedi; Kirurgi; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; symptoms; risk factors; radiography; osteoarthritis; meniscectomy; Epidemiology; knee injury;

    Abstract : Meniscectomy is recognized as an important risk factor for the development of knee osteoarthritis (OA), a disease that traditionally has been considered as a simple "wear and tear" phenomenon. However, despite numerous reports, little evidence has been presented that a limited meniscal resection, compared with a more extensive resection, reduces the risk of OA by preserving meniscal function. 5. 5. Scaphoid Fractures - epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment

    Author : Peter Jörgsholm; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Scaphoid fracture; carpal fracture; paediatric; radiography; CT; MRI; arthroscopy; scapholunate ligament injury; radial comminution; surgical treatment; conservative treatment; fracture union;

    Abstract : Abstract The scaphoid is the most commonly fractured carpal bone. The diagnosis is difficult and untreated the long-term results are poor. Approximately 10% do not unite even if they are treated properly. The aim of this thesis was to study scaphoid fracture epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment. READ MORE
