  1. 1. Radiological Studies on Hippocampal Development Morphological Variants and their Relationship to Epilepsy

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Institutionen för onkologi, radiologi och klinisk immunologi, Enheten för radiologi

    Author : Dragan Bajic; Raili Raininko; Kai Ericson; [2010]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; Brain development; Hippocampus; Epilepsy; MEDICINE Physiology and pharmacology Radiological research Radiology; MEDICIN Fysiologi och farmakologi Radiologisk forskning Radiologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : During fetal development, the hippocampal structures are folded forming the hippocampal sulcus which penetrates into the temporal lobe and then the entity rotates.  During this process, the hippocampal sulcus will be closed and the inverted hippocampus takes a rounded form. 3. 3. CT Urography Efforts to Reduce the Radiation Dose

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Pär Dahlman; Anders Magnusson; Anders Sundin; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urinary tract malignancy; renal cell carcinoma; urography; x-ray computed tomography; radiation dosage; dose escalation; hematuria diagnosis; MEDICINE Physiology and pharmacology Radiological research Diagnostic radiology; MEDICIN Fysiologi och farmakologi Radiologisk forskning Diagnostisk radiologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Computed tomography urography (CTU) is today the imaging method used to investigate patients with suspected urinary tract malignancy, replacing the old imaging method intravenous pyelography (IVP) about a decade ago. The downside of this shift was that the effective radiation dose to the examined patient was eight times higher for CTU compared to IVP. READ MORE

    Abstract : A few abnormal cells found in a small piece of prostate tissue are most consequential for a man’s future. The prevalence of prostate cancer (PCa) is increasing globally. READ MORE

  5. 5. MRI at 3 T of brain functions and fibre tracts adjacent to intracranial tumors

    University dissertation from Diagnostisk radiologi, Lunds Universitet

    Author : Danielle van Westen; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; radiology; tomography; Clinical physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; somatosensory cortex; diffusion magnetic resonance imaging; neoplasms; Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging;

    Abstract : The aims of the studies were: to evaluate the spatial resolution of fMRI at 3 T by studying fingersomatotopy in area 3 b of the primary sensory area (Paper 1); to investigate the potential of fMRI at 3T as a clinical tool for preoperative evaluation of patients with intracranial tumors (Paper 2); to investigate the effect of glioma resection on the spatial extent of fMRI activation as compared to the normal within-subject variability (Paper 3); to determine whether the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) can distinguish tumor-infiltrated edema of gliomas from pure edema of meningiomas and metastases (Paper 4). Results: Strict somatotopic organisation in the primary sensory cortex was shown in the group average; at the subject level the thumb was located laterally, anteriorly and inferiorly to the little finger in 94 % of subjects (Paper 1).
