  1. 1. CT Guided Ablation of T1 Renal Tumors

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Vanessa Acosta Ruiz; Uppsala universitet.; [2019]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Renal tumor; Ablation; Radiofrequency ablation; Microwave ablation; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : The widespread use of medical imaging contributes to the increased detection of incidentally detected small renal tumors, a majority which are often indolent masses found in elderly patients with preexisting chronic kidney disease. In Sweden, partial nephrectomy with minimal invasive surgical approach is the current standard for removing these tumors, although another option is percutaneous image-guided tumor ablation that allows treatment of elderly patients with comorbidities for who surgery is a risk. 2. 2. Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Techniques in Diabetes

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lina Carlbom; Uppsala universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography; Magnetic resonance imaging; Magnetic resonance spectroscopy; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; PET MR; Pancreas transplantation; Perfusion; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : In order to further advance the field of diabetes research there is a great need for establishing validated non-invasive quantitative techniques to study the pancreas and other tissues of importance for blood glucose regulation. The general aim of this thesis was to explore magnetic resonance techniques and positron emission tomography as such tools. READ MORE

  3. 3. Preoperative MRI and PET in suspected low-grade gliomas Radiological, neuropathological and clinical intersections

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anna Falk Delgado; Uppsala universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Low-grade glioma; MRI; PET; FA; MD; Perfusion; Diffusion; Neuropathology; Oligodendroglioma; Astrocytoma; PET; tractography; DTI; DTT; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Background: Gliomas are neuroepithelial tumours classified by cell type and grade. In adults, low-grade gliomas are comprised mainly of astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas grade II. READ MORE

  4. 4. Visual assessment of perfusion and metabolism in neurodegenerative dementia

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : David Fällmar; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dementia; Neurodegenerative; Brain imaging; Diagnostics; Neuroradiology; Neuroimaging; Demens; Neurodegenerativ; Hjärnavbildning; diagnostik; Neuroradiologi; Neuroimaging; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : A worldwide demographic shift is currently occurring, with rapidly increasing numbers of elderly individuals. Since the incidence of neurodegenerative disease generally increases with age, this entails an increase in dementia prevalence. READ MORE

  5. 5. Characterization of [18F]flutemetamol binding properties A β-amyloid PET imaging ligand

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Kerstin Heurling; Uppsala universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography PET ; molecular imaging; amyloid; tracer validation; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : The criteria for diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease (AD) have recently been revised to include the use of biomarkers for the in vivo presence of β-amyloid, one of the neuropathological hallmarks of AD. Examples of such biomarkers are positron emission tomography (PET) β-amyloid specific ligands, including [18F]flutemetamol. READ MORE
