  1. 1. CT Guided Ablation of T1 Renal Tumors

    Author : Vanessa Acosta Ruiz; Anders Magnusson; Mikael Hellström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Renal tumor; Ablation; Radiofrequency ablation; Microwave ablation; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : The widespread use of medical imaging contributes to the increased detection of incidentally detected small renal tumors, a majority which are often indolent masses found in elderly patients with preexisting chronic kidney disease. In Sweden, partial nephrectomy with minimal invasive surgical approach is the current standard for removing these tumors, although another option is percutaneous image-guided tumor ablation that allows treatment of elderly patients with comorbidities for who surgery is a risk. 2. 2. Water–fat separation in magnetic resonance imaging and its application in studies of brown adipose tissue

    Author : Jonathan Andersson; Joel Kullberg; Håkan Ahlström; Mark Lubberink; Kerstin Lagerstrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; brown adipose tissue; magnetic resonance imaging; water–fat signal separation; graph-cut; positron emission tomography; 18F-fludeoxyglucose; infrared thermography; machine learning; artificial neural networks; deep learning; convolutional neural networks; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Virtually all the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) signal of a human originates from water and fat molecules. By utilizing the property chemical shift the signal can be separated, creating water- and fat-only images. READ MORE

  3. 3. Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Techniques in Diabetes

    Author : Lina Carlbom; Håkan Ahlström; Olle Korsgren; Olof Eriksson; Lars Johansson; Tove Grönroos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography; Magnetic resonance imaging; Magnetic resonance spectroscopy; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; PET MR; Pancreas transplantation; Perfusion; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : In order to further advance the field of diabetes research there is a great need for establishing validated non-invasive quantitative techniques to study the pancreas and other tissues of importance for blood glucose regulation. The general aim of this thesis was to explore magnetic resonance techniques and positron emission tomography as such tools. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evaluation of Intracranial Arteriovenous Malformations with Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Author : Maria Correia de Verdier; Johan Wikström; Elisabeth Ronne-Engström; Ljubisa Borota; Johan Wassélius; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Arteriovenous malformation; brain; proton-radiation therapy; magnetic resonance imaging; phase-contrast MRI; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Intracranial arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are characterized by feeding arteries, a tangle of abnormal vessels (nidus) and draining veins. Radiological evaluation methods are used in diagnosing AVMs, treatment planning, post-treatment evaluation and monitoring stability. READ MORE

  5. 5. Assessment of Renal Physiology Using Functional MRI

    Author : Per Eckerbom; Per Liss; Fredrik Palm; Peter Hansell; Jarl Jakobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kidney; Renal; MRI; Phase contrast; ASL; BOLD; DWI; T1; COVID-19; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Kidney injury is a major cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world, leading to substantial individual suffering and to a heavy financial burden for the society. A large number of common conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune diseases and infections are highly associated with kidney injury. READ MORE
